Larkkit Kit | Shadowclan | She/Her
It was a bright, cool morning and the sun was just peeking over the horizon, when a cool breeze blew through the nursery den. Larkkit was awake when the cool air tussled through her fur; her mother was still sleeping unbothered by the cool breeze. Larkkit saw and opportunity to adventure out of her nursery for the first time and she was definably going to take it. She got up quietly as to no wake her mother and padded to the front of the nursery. After looking back to make sure her mother was asleep, she stuck her face out the nursery.
The Light was blinding, and it took her a few minutes to adjust to the brightness. Once Larkkit's eyes adjusted to the light she saw several cats moving about. Her eyes sparkled and her tail flickered in excitement; she couldn't believe how vast the rest of the den was. She decided to sit quietly, and watch the other cats go about their daily routines. Quillpaw was in charge of feeding the kits again, a task that was apparently too difficult for the poor queens who had to stay around all day with their whining, screaming bundles of fur. The tortoiseshell tom carried his catch of two mice to the nursery, not really watching where he was going, which resulted in him tripping over one of those annoying bundles. Irritated amber eyes snapped down to the she-kit, a snappy reply ready on his tongue, but paused. Even a monster like him wasn't going to scream at such an innocent-looking kit, not unless he wanted a hoard of angry queens on his tail. Quillpaw threw one of the mice at the kit, and added coldly, "eat it."
Larkkit was too busy watching the clan cats bustling about that she hadn't even notice one coming up from the side. She rolled a small way in front of the den opening as the tom-cat tripped over her. She was quick to hop up on her feet with a huff in case she needed to dart back to her mother's nest. She watched with steady golden eyes as the Tom-cat commanded her to eat. Larkkit's tail flickered in anticipation, this was her first mouse and she wasn't exactly sure what to do with it. She pounced at the mouse, rolling on her back and kicking it to shreds with her back feet as she firmly held it in her mouth. Once the mouse was shredded she sat back up, and looked at the tom-cat with a twinkle in her eye, "Thank you for the mouse, um uh..." her head tilted to the side, she realized she has never met this cat before and she didn't actually know his name. She became nervous and started chewing on the mouse as quickly possible to escape the embarrassment she just caused herself. "Quillpaw," He replied without even a friendly smile, amber eyes narrowed with annoyance as the kit kicked the piece of fresh-kill. What an ungrateful kit, didn't she know how precious prey was? He knew the feeling of empty stomaches and being so tired and yet still having to hunt to keep himself alive. Wait, what? Had he? He clung onto the moment of memory, searching for more answers, but once again it slipped out of his hold, leaving a very angry apprentice glarring at the kit. "Where are your parents?" He snapped, voice a bit sharper than it should have been, but considering how he wanted to shred something out of frustration right now, he'd say it was a miracle the kit's face hadn't been caved in yet.
Larkkit licked her lips as she peered up at Quillpaw, ""Nice to meet you Quillpaw, my name is Larkkit. My mom is still curled up in her nest, I'm sure she is enjoying her alone time." Larkkit looked back to the den opening and knew that her mother would have actually been very upset to know Larkkit had wandered away from the nest while she was sleeping. She looked back at Quillpaw and gave him a quick smile, "I too will be an Apprentice here soon. What is it like to be able to be out and about roaming the forest all the time?"
