Pineblossom had had her paws full with her litter of five kits ever since the journey started, and though Forestbreeze, Silverhawk and Hawkpaw would often help her out it seemed the queen had finally reached her limit. As the queen herded Wolfkit towards Burdockroot, she had asked Tawnyshadow almost pleadingly to help watch over Hedgekit. She was more than happy to oblige, as she now approached the dark-furred kit. "Greetings, Hedgekit," She purred a greeting, sitting down and rolling a mossball towards the smaller cat. The journey was no doubt difficult for such a young cat, and she figured the kit would have some questions about what was going on.

| Hedgekit was not a fan of all the walking. She'd been given plenty of badger rides by Hawkpaw and Silverhawk, and sometimes even Mamma would help carry her, but the kit absolutely could not understand why everyone had to go somewhere. Where were they going? Why were they leaving home? She missed playing hide-and-seek where she knew where everything was. She wasn't allowed to play hide-and-seek anymore in case she got lost. Everything was so strange... she just wanted to go back home.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a mossball entering her line of vision. Almost immediately Hedgekit pounced on the ball, catching it, then batting it back and forth with her white front paws. A voice accompanied it. Soon she looked up to see who it was. To her surprise, it wasn't one of her brothers--it was another ShadowClan warrior. She didn't remember her name. "Hello," she meowed politely, remembering the manners that Mamma always said she should have. "What's your name? Tawnyshadow held back a coo as Hedgekit pounced on the mossball. Pineblossom's kit had quite good manners-- no doubt taught by their mother. "My name is Tawnyshadow," She replied, tail curling around her paws as she settled into a sitting position. "Your mother asked me to help take care of you while she was gone," she explained, stopping the mossball with a paw when it threatened to roll away and passing it back to the kit.
