The Burning[C]

His recent trip to RiverClan territory had resulted in a rather interesting outcome, but still the tom wasn't satisfied. He was itching for another fight, and decided this time it must be a proper warrior. But which warrior would entertain a random rouge asking for a spar at the border? Oh no, he had to go all the way inside the territory to get a proper fight. Tail lashing with excitement, Ajex crossed the ThunderClan border without hesitation. The forest scents were devoid of most prey-scents, but the tom thought he could still scent a few mice around. The rustling of ferns to his left caught his attention, and immediately he crouched down. The scent of mouse pooled over his tongue as he crept closer. Suddenly, there was a snap of twigs, follow by the a snarl. Ajex jumped to his paws, whirling around to face the new cat, the mouse forgotten now.

As soon as he turned around, a dark ginger she-cat crashed into him, and he felt his skin break under claws. Thrills running through him and blood rushing in his ears, Ajex regained his balance and lunged for the warrior's exposed belly. To his surprise, the she-cat moved at the speed of light, and the next thing he knew he had crashed into a tree and there was a large scratch on his shoulder. He hadn't even managed to land a hit on her! Despite the pain from his wounds, the tom's eyes were filled with awe and a sick excitement.

Is that so? Ajex flashed his opponent a smile, and returned her words with some of his own. "Is it really a dangerous game if it's the only way to survive? You wouldn't possibly understand that in the life of a rouge, the terms 'stronger' and 'survive' go paw in paw. In fact, I really should thank you for providing me this opportunity to grow stronger. Chances like these are quite hard to come by." No sooner had the words left his tongue that the tom's claws lashed out, one after another, aiming for where he knew it would hurt the most. A trick he had learnt from another fight similar to this. Hopefully, his opponent wouldn't hold too hard of a grudge against him; what if he wanted a rematch in the future?

Ajex bit back a yelp of pain as claws dug into his head. Through eyes burning with pain, he could see the she-cat's face twist into an ugly snarl. His opponent's rage was matched, paw for paw, eye for eye. His blood pounded in his ears, and all manner of calmness was now gone. No witty remarks left his mouth, which had curled into a snarl to reveal sharp fangs. Ajex had missed the feeling of being able to go wild. He surged forward, ignoring where claws lashed out at him to sink his teeth into the she-cat's scruff. He could taste the sweet metallic blood pooling into his mouth, and with a growl he threw the she-cat to the side roughly. More. He needed more. He rounded onto the flame-pelted warrior, almost begging for her to get back up and continue the fight.

Ajex was shocked at how fast the she-cat recovered, and winced when her teeth sank into him once more. What a brutal fighter! Adreline was running through him, and he felt as if his heart might burst out of his chest. His paws itched to try out the new moves. How did she even recover that quickly? He whipped around to bat at her muzzle in an attempt to make her let go.
