| Fawnshine And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? "So you were never a saint and I've loved in shades of wrong. We learn to live with the pain, mosaic broken hearts." Fawnshine rose from the familiar comforts of her nest, guiding herself out to pick up the herb bundle set near the entrance of the medicine den by just a paw's length across. She bent down to gingerly pick it up, padding out to the apprentice's den in search of one of their apprentices.
"Vinepaw? Are you awake?" She called out softly, setting the herb bundle down once the tom had emerged, "It's time for your Moonstone journey. Eat these herbs here—they won't taste very well, but you'll much rather go with than without them, I promise. It's necessary." She nodded towards it. "Once you're finished, we can go right away." ft. | Vinepaw eyed the herbs that Fawnshine set before him, unsure if he should be indulge in forest tradition even a little. But as his stomach growled hungrily, he chose to eat them, cringing at the bitter taste as he swallowed them down. Food was food, he guessed.
With a nod, he gestured to the medicine cat that he was ready to go. If doing this 'moonstone' thing meant he went up in rank, then so be it. |

Before they knew it, their walk had ended, and where they paused to enter lay the familiar face of the Mothermouth. As always, she paused to turn over to the apprentice, pausing to instruct him on what to do before going inside. "There won't be light until you reach the end, where the Moonstone lays. Follow the tip of my tail closely, or my scent, and be careful to not accidentally trip over anything."
With that, she waited for a sign of confirmation from him before beckoning Vinepaw in with her tail; mindful to choose the pathway clear of obstacles as she always did. Once the Moonstone emerged into view, she guided him towards it with her nose. "Press your nose to the Moonstone, and Starclan will do the rest. I'll be here when you wake up." The she-cat paused for a brief moment, unsure if he even necessarily believed in their ways of StarClan or not—but either way, she figured something else would await for him, if not their familiar ancestors. ft. With the scent of ThunderClan's senior medicine cat, Vinepaw followed through the dark tunnel, broad shoulders brushing the sides of the cold stone. The winding and twisting soon gave way to a large cavern and - even with the moon shining down through the cracks of the ceiling - a dull looking stone sat at it's center. Vinepaw was... Uninpressed, to say the least. He shrugged his sandy shoulders, nodding to Fawnshine that he had heard her instructions. Flinching as he touched his pink nose to the stone, he closed his eyes.

The following dreams were nothing spectacular for Vinepaw. It was as if he had closed his eyes in the apprentice den to dream as though it were a normal night. A vague island shape took form, clear blue waters with blinding white sands making up its outline. Inside that outline were tall trees that stretched up higher than Fourtrees, and the ferns coated the earthy floor in a comforting shade. All things his father had so dreamily talked about to his children. There was nothing to be gained here.
Unfortunately, the dream was cut shorter than usual. It felt as though something forced him awake, but it could just be the bone-chilling cold of the rocky cave floor that forced him up. "This was no different from a night in the apprentice den... Just colder. I'd like to leave, if you don't mind." It was over just as soon as it had started. What a waste of time it was to humor the forest cats. Would he have to do this again? |
