The thoughts won’t fall like the leaves (closed for Scorchkit)

Her eyes darted around the RiverClan camp, searching for Scorchkit. Her gaze stopped at the nursery. She peered into the nursery but saw nothing. She sighed then sat down in a comfortable alcove, deep in thought.
Thinking about how the clan would survive and persist through the tough and dreaded times of leaf-bare. This had been a frequent thought now, which worried her. What if another kit died? What if the clan starved? What if she died? She hated how she was so pessimistic to herself. She quickly changed the subject she was pondering about Scorchkit. Would her new friend even show up to share tongues? She held her head low. She was always so energetic and happy and she wished she was like that herself, but she never could be.
Trees were starting to lose their leaves. But soon, in leaf-bare, no leaves would cling onto the branches. She missed greenleaf. Prey was thriving and the entire clan had fish to eat and catch. She frowned at the thought of fish freezing to death by leaf-bare. Maybe her friend could've abandoned her? Maybe...

Suddenly, the ginger-colored kit jumped up from a bush and landed on her fur. She playfully started licking Mosskit. "Are you okay, Mosskit? Don’t tell me you thought I’d abandon you!" she mewled. She didn’t like seeing her new friend frown like that. "I hate to see you frown. Cheer up! What’s bugging you?" Her paws shuffled and up fumbled. She was extremely worried for Mosskit. She looked depressed and unfazed by Scorchkit's sudden outburst. She pawed Mosskit's paw to try and get her attention.

She stared at Scorchkit, breaking out of her thoughts. "Oh, err, sorry about that!" she meowed. "I was just lost in thought... nothing much." She realized she'd become an apprentice by leaf-bare. She imagined the struggle it was to hunt; it would be hardships she thought she couldn't face, but much more. She had a feeling this leaf-bare would be different in a way.

"Our clan sure is low on fresh-kill," she meowed while stretching her back. "By leaf-bare, no fish will swim up. They'll all be frozen and dead. The hunger lingering around the clan will become more deadly. And green and whitecough will arise." She trembled at the thought of all the things she mentioned. She closed her eyes, anxious.

"Thanks for comforting me," she meowed. "You really are a true friend, Scorchkit." Mosskit would add, licking her friend. "It's just so worrying thinking about all of these! Our clan may be in danger! We might perish! It's all so troubling!" She'd mewl anxiously, resting her head by her friend's paws. "I don't want to become an apprentice anymore. It's all too overwhelming."

She stared at her friend in dismay. "We'll be okay, you're overthinking!" she meowed, trying to cheer her friend up as best as she could. "Trust me! We'll go through this together."

She knew she was older than Mosskit, so she would be mentored earlier. But when Mosskit became an apprentice, she would support her.

"Don't be a scaredy-cat! You can do this! We can do this!" She nudged Mosskit's back with her paw, her tail softly thudding to the ground. "Don't give up, Mosskit."

Her eyes locked with Scorchkits, she remained silent. "Look... I don’t know... this is all too overwhelming for me," she meowed to her friend. She tucked her tail in and her gaze trailed off towards the fresh kill pile. "We're hopeless," she mewed. "I’ll die before newleaf," she frowned. "How are you always so energetic? The winds torment our clan, the water is getting poisoned, we’re all starving for food to the point where warriors come back empty-handed!" she’d mew anxiously. She crouched down and hung her head low. "The river will freeze soon... no prey will come out because it’s freezing cold and leaf-bare's grasp will rule our clan once again," she nuzzled with Scorchkit and licked her too. "Thanks for being here for me."
