| Happiness comes the way the wind blows
A quater moon had passed since Finchpaw was apprenticed to him, and it was time to touch on another subject of her training. Fighting. While he wasn't a big fan of using claws himself, it was a necessary skill that a warrior had to posses. He couldn't stop Finchpaw from using her claws and fangs to fight, but he could guide her in terms of how and when to fight with them. With that thought in mind, Sootstorm found Finchpaw and brought her to the training clearing.
"I want to see what you know from playfighting as a kit. Attack me," Sootstorm ordered, getting into a crouching position to prepare himself for the she-cat's attack.

| Finchpaw was sniffing the fresh-kill pile, her eyes on a particulary juicy mouse. Just as she was about to take it for herself, Sootstorm rather rudely called her over. Great Starclan, another training session? Hadn't they just finish a hunting session? Giving the mouse one last longing look, the brown-and-cream dappled she-cat joined her mentor. Upon hearing that they would finally be touching on battle training, Finchpaw straightened up eagerly, whatever glum look she previously had lost as she flexed her claws. She was so ready for this!
She remembered Nectarflower's stories. How Shadowclan had attacked Windclan and killed two of their warriors, Adderdawn and Flutterpetal, and how the only reason they always had trouble finding prey was because Riverclan took such a large chunk of their territory. Those two Clans were going to regret messing with Windclan after she was done with them. Upon hearing Sootstorm's instruction, Finchpaw wasted no time in flinging herself at her mentor. Her eyes were fixed on the tom's shoulders, her jump was aimed with such precision one might have assumed that she was already a seasoned warrior. And to be fair, she had spent most of her kithood pouncing on anything and everything that moved. If anything, it would be a surprise if she didn't hit Sootstorm at all.
Finchpaw crashed into Sootstorm just as she expected, and with all her strength she shoved the tom off-balance. She landed gracefully on her paws, and gave her mentor an expecting look. Surely, she deserved some praise for that?

Sootstorm's eyes widened in surprise as he was thrown off balance. He quickly twisted and landed on all fours. Finchpaw was good, as good as he recalled. Always the first to shove the other kits' faces into dirt or batting their ears. But she could drop that smug look. Eyes narrowed playfully, Sootstorm's claws lashed out in the familiar pattern that only experience could have taught him.
Sootstorm used Experienced Steps, dealing 8dmg and -10SP

| Finchpaw yelped as her paws were knocked out from under her, and she landed face-first into the dirt. She struggled to find her footing again, all the while desperately trying to catch her breath. She shot her mentor a filthy glare. Did he think that just because he was bigger and more experienced, he could play around with her like this? It was clearly no effort for the tom to stun her. What a prick!
