Sparks In The Night[C]

Flysnap had been unusually restless lately. When he had thought of the warrior life, this wasn't quite what he was expecting. Days after days of just going on patrol and talking about the same old boring topics with the same old boring cats was beginning to get on his nerves. By no means did he hate his clanmates, Starclan forbid if he did, but they could be a bit... much, at times. It was as if he had stopped but the rest of the Clan had marched on without him. Was this what warriorhood felt like? If so, he wanted to be an apprentice again. He wanted to have a goal to work towards, he wanted to be praised for his skills again. Not... ignored.

The dark ginger tabby stopped as he came to the border. Foul scents covered the area. Beyond, tall pine trees rose up to meet the sky, blocking out the light of the stars. Flysnap shivered. How could any cat live in there, let alone a whole Clan? Did Shadowclan cats never miss the warmth of the sun? Just then, motion at the side of the Thunderpath caught his eye. A mouse, barely visible under the dim moonlight, was just a few tail-lengths away. His stomach suddenly growled, reminding him that he had yet to eat that day save for a small shrew. With that thought in mind, Flysnap pounced towards the mouse. It scattered, and he was quick to give chase. With a few powerful leaps he was on top of the mouse, and he quickly killed it off. However, as he triumphantly picked up the mouse and took a step back, he realized that the ground under his paws was no longer hard and familiar, but a mushy, muddy texture. He was on Shadowclan territory.
