Subject: Where Sky Meets Shadow [Magpiepaw/Singedfox] Tue 8 Aug 2023 - 17:29
((OOC: Time soup? Never heard of her.))
The evening sun cast long shadows as Wolfblossom picked her way from tree branch to tree branch along the thunderpath, making her way toward highpine as she patrolled Skyclan's border. The flow of monsters had slowed down for the day, but the gray and white deputy was still deeply wary as she moved, not at all enjoying the acrid stench on gusts of hot air left in the monster's wake. The stench was enough to muddle the scent of Shadowclan and Thunderclan, though if she concentrated she could pick the two clans out on the wind still.
For the moment the border seemed quiet, and Wolfblossom's thoughts turned briefly to Leopardsun. The Shadowclan deputy certainly had a lot to deal with... Wolfblossom only hoped that the tension across the forest would not impact another gathering or result in more unnecessary injuries. Leopardsun couldn't be the only sane one in her clan, but after that display by the two toms who called themselves leaders... Who knew, really?
Movement across the thunderpath caught the deputy's eyes, and she turned, settling on the branch to watch.
One of ShadowClan's newest apprentices came bolting from the soft marshes that he called home. Being an apprentice couldn't have been a better experience, at least according to him. The freedom to explore with the promise of becoming something great. It only added to the anticipation of becoming a warrior.
Magpiepaw nearly skidded to a stop as he approached the Thunderpath. He had heard all too many times how awful the wretched stench was, but nothing could have prepared him for the real thing. It hit his nose, nearly paralyzing him. The tom let out a small gag and held his paw over his nose.
It took him a moment to realize he had arrived much quicker than his mentor. It was his first real patrol and he was already running off and most likely getting in trouble. The black tom took a seat, lowing his paw and scrunching up his muzzle. His amber eyes glanced around, looking for that familiar form of Singedfox. Instead, his attention was caught on the forest's edge. There were more trees than he had ever seen in his life. His eyes scanned the treeline, taking in as much as he could before the inevitable reprimanding.
There was something that stood out against the darkness of the forest. It couldn't be... could it?

"Calm down, there's nothing to get your heart racing." Singedfox coo'd, slipping to Magpiepaw's side. Taking note of Magpiepaw's gaze, he looked across the territory of SkyClan. "It's a lot, isn't it?" There was a slight purr as he nudged his apprentice.

Wolfblossom supressed a small smile at the sight of what looked like an apprentice speeding ahead of their clanmate to the thunderpath, only to have a reaction that she too shared in regards to the foul-smelling path with the fouler-smelling monsters that ran along it. Their older clanmate caught up to them, and the pair of cats spoke though too quietly for Wolfblossom to make out at this distance. Their eyes scanned her side of the territory though, and if Wolfblossom had to guess, they had spotted movement just as she had. "Patrolling, Shadowclanners?" She called out to them, blue eyes settling on the two cats with interest. She didn't recognize either of them, and while she tried not to judge an entire clan based on the actions of their leadership... She was still wary of the night-favoring clan after the recent gathering's chaos.
The tom chuckled as his mentor joined him, but he kept his eyes glued to the forest's edge. He was sure he spotted a glimmer of white amongst the dark browns and greens. "More than I ever imagined..." Magpiepaw narrowed his amber eyes, staring directly at what he swore was another cat.
A strange voice coming straight from the forest only confirmed his suspicions.
"I knew it!" he shouted out as Wolfblossom called out to the ShadowClan pair. His tail flicked in the direction of her voice, eyes following the SkyClan deputy's form. "That mouse-brain really thought they were hidden with such a bright pelt," he huffed quietly, only loud enough for Singedfox to hear.
Magpiepaw stood tall as he cautiously stepped forward, one of his front paws barely grazing the weird stone of the Thunderpath. It felt hot against the pads of his feet. The tom cleared his throat and shouted across the border. "Did you expect us to just be on a leisurely stroll? I'm sure other clans enjoy lazing around in the sun all day like soft kittypets, but ShadowClan are real warriors." He let out a huff of pride.
