Subject: Magpiepaw's Moonstone Journey Thu 3 Feb 2022 - 10:56
"Hey, kiddo." Swiftspirit purred, finding her daughter just outside of the apprentice den. "Are you ready to visit the moonstone?" She asked, nudging the bundle of traveling herbs towards Magpiepaw with an apologetic smile. "They taste awful, but we need to eat them." She'd choked down her portion in the medicine den, where Magpiepaw wouldn't have to see her gag over the bitter, sour taste of the herbs. Once Magpiepaw had eaten them, Swiftspirit turned and led her out of camp. She was glad for the chance to spend time with Magpiepaw, even if the journey wasn't the most pleasant experience in her opinion.
---
Swiftspirit gazed up at the darkening sky, silently judging how much time they had before her gaze turned toward Magpiepaw's fluffy pelt. Her daughter had grown, and soon enough she'd be a warrior. A small smile flickered across her face, pride warming her chest at the thought.
"The tunnels are dark, use your whiskers or grab my tail if you need to. When we get to the moonstone, lay down and touch your nose to it. I'll be there when you wake up." She mewed. Once Magpiepaw indicated she was ready, Swiftspirit turned and led her down the narrow passageways. They arrived at the moonstone's cavern, and she gently pressing against her daughter's pelt as she stepped forward before stepping back to wait for her.

Magpiepaw was unbeatable. After her run-in with the monster and successful fight with the weasel, little seemed to scare the apprentice. And now going to the moonstone meant she would be a warrior soon, and the best one in the clan, just like she'd always planned. It was a plus having her mother be the one to take her, even if she didn't really understand why the medicine cat wasn't doing it. But she would rather spend time with someone she knew anyways. "Of course!" She said, picking up the herbs in a hurry to leave. Starclan, Swiftspirit was right. The herbs tasted terrible, but either way she managed to swallow them, albeit barely. "Let's go, let's go!" Normally she would be conscious of how she was acting like a kit, but if she was going to be a warrior soon, she wanted to take every chance she had to do what she wanted.

Night fell as the pair walked, a cool breeze arriving along with it. The sky was scattered with clouds, creating a strange patchwork with the stretches of free space that were sprinkled with stars. Outside mothermouth, Magpiepaw listened carefully. This was it. She nodded and stayed very close behind her mother in the tunnels, unused to the feeling of having walls press in on her. Like every Windclan cat, she'd spent time in the tunnels under the territory, but this felt different.
She was thankful when the tunnel opened to a cavern, the infamous moonstone placed in the centre. Something about the rock drew her in, and yet at the same time she was terrified of it. Here, bathed in the moonlight, it was just her, with nothing to hind behind, and she wasn't sure how much she liked that. All her life she had been mostly indifferent to Starclan, despite the power they held over the clans, even if most of it was purely by belief. But now she was scared, so soon after believing she could never be afraid again.
A comforting nudge from Swiftspirit made her automatically take a step forward. As much as she was tempted to turn and run, this was her last step to becoming a warrior. And so she would have to do it. With everything settled, she lay down and waited. For what, she didn't entirely know.
Goldengale sat, her pale gold pelt outlined against the starry moor. Starlight glimmered in her short fur as she waited for the apprentice she was supposed to meet with to arrive, and after a few more heartbeats the sleeping form of a young cat began to materialize in front of her. With a small, lopsided grin, Goldengale greeted the apprentice. "Hello there, Magpiepaw. Welcome to StarClan! My name is Goldengale. How was the walk to the Moonstone?" She mewed, watching as the she-cat woke up and gathered her senses.
Magpiepaw opened her eyes and lifted her head to meet the gaze of a golden she-cat. Getting to her feet, she blinked to check what was definitely happening. She'd heard stories, especially from the younger warriors, about what moonstone journeys were like, and yet she hadn't expected anything to actually happen. The apprentice listened to the warrior, a brief hint of recognition at the name Goldengale, probably from a story she'd been told as a kit. Unfortunately, she'd never been paying much attention to many of the stories of fallen warriors.
"Alright, fine." She said, still slightly in shock. Some of the awe she had felt in the cavern had worn off at Goldengale's very normal and casual greeting, but traces of it still remained. In a truly not-Magpiepaw way, she didn't say anything else, and instead waited for the tabby to continue.
OOC: I'm so sorry, I thought I responded to this already!
Goldengale purred at the apprentice's response. "Good, I'm glad it went well. Now, do you have any questions for me? Do you know who I am? I'm here to answer what questions I can for you, and offer you some wisdom... If that's what you want. If you want someone to listen, I can be that too." She mewed, looking towards Magpiepaw's shocked expression.
