Subject: Sibling Spar [Sunfire] Sat 29 Jul 2023 - 11:00
"How've you been, Sunfire?" Graywind glanced toward her brother, golden eyes bright, "I can't believe your kits are apprentices already! You must be so proud of them." She purred, nudging his shoulder before continuing forward.
The air was warm, and as Graywind headed toward the halfstone with her brother at her side, she was almost tempted to just sit in the shade instead of do something productive... But it had been too long since she'd spent time with her brother, and the chance to catch up and do some sparring was a welcome one. With the oddly-shaped stones in sight, Graywind turned back to Sunfire, tail tip twitching. "...Are you sure you want to spar, brother? You look tired." She was teasing him... Mostly.
Tufted ears rotated sideways to regard his sister's question, and Sunfire nodded slowly. "I've been... busy," he breathed, giving an almost hesitant chuckle. He didn't really want to complain, truth be told, because it was his own fault that he hardly had time to rest his paws before he was off doing something else, but this was Graywind... if there was any cat he could talk to about it and not be judged, it was her.
"But I am proud of them. So, so proud of them." As they came upon the halfstone, Sunfire instinctively split away from his sister, to stand across from her, rolling his shoulders, flexing his claws into the dirt. She teased him about being too tired to spar, and suddenly, he found the exhaustion draining from his limbs. Oh, so she wanted to be sassy, huh? Sunfire furrowed his brow, half-crouching, though the seriousness of his face was belied by the amusement that glittered in his eyes.
"Come on, then." He quipped, tail flicking. "I am so ready."
Graywind smiled at her brother. "They're lucky to have you." She mewed, "And I know they'll be trained well. I am kinda miffed that mom didn't give one of them to me. Sorrelpaw is so sweet." She would have loved to train one of her nieces or nephew, but they were all in good paws, Graywind knew.
Sunfire backed away from her, and she grinned at him. Without warning, the she-cat darted forward, atempting to slide beneath Sunfire. Perhaps she could catch him by surprise with that move... She battered lightly at his belly, careful to keep her claws sheathed before scrambling away from her brother, a hint of smugness in her golden eyes.
Before he even really had time to think about it, Brackwing charged forward. He expected her to be bold, and attack him head-on, so he was ready, dropping a shoulder in preparation to meet her attack. What he didn't expect was for her to drop low and slide between his paws, kicking paws up into his belly. Sunfire grunted, the wind knocked out of his lungs, and he sucked in a deep breath as Graywind scrambled off and turned to face him again.
"That was dirty," he accused, feigning hurt. But he didn't dwell on it for long. This meant war. Dashing towards her, Sunfire leaped, his paws outstretched, and caught her squarely between them, landing on top and pressing her face into the dirt - gently, but firmly. She was his sister... he wasn't going to hurt her, but he also had zero qualms about rubbing her nose in the mud.
Sunfire used Leap and Hold, dealing 8 (spar) damage to Graywind at the cost of 15 stamina. Leap and Hold is in effect for 2 turns.
"Just checking to see if you were awake, brother." She snickered. Maybe opening with that had been dirty... But it had been unexpected. And maybe she was a little smug at having pulled it off.
Sunfire leaped for her, and Graywind went down against her brother's weight, a grunt escaping her as her face was pressed into the dirt. "Hey!" She sputtered in indignation. She... Had deserved that, she supposed.
