Sorrelkit particularly enjoyed hiding herself in small places, waiting patiently to spring out on what, she hoped, were unsuspecting passing cats. What she enjoyed the most were the reactions of cats; either in their feigned surprise or on the rare occasions she did truly catch a warrior off guard. These were the games she played when her littermates were either sleeping or busy with their own games — and they could grow tiresome quickly when the nursery had few visitors or cats straying close enough to be trapped into kit games. It didn’t help, either, that her hiding place wasn’t the greatest; with her blue-grey tail waving behind her and giggles coming from the tall grass. 

With a couple of warriors passing the nursery, she saw her opportunity. Sorrelkit crouched closer to the ground then leapt out from where she had been hiding, shouting loudly with a grin on her face, 

“Hah!” The kit laughed loudly to herself, asking in between excited breaths, “did I scare you?”
