The day's chores were over, and the sun was dipping low on the horizon as Lichenwing stood across from Copperlark. They were just outside the camp, in a small clearing large enough for a spar... which they were here to do. It had been a little while since Lichenwing had had a good spar, and since Copperlark was a relatively new warrior, it never hurt to practice. Besides - the dusk was beautiful, and cool, and it would be a shame to waste it. Grinning across at his opponent, Lichenwing lowered his head, fluffy tail flicking back and forth. "Alright then, let's get to it," he said good naturedly.

Leaping forward, Lichenwing straightened his shoulders and bowled into Copperlark.

Lichenwing used Headbutt on Copperlark, dealing 7 damage at the cost of 5 stamina.

Blazefang watched from among the trees, unseen mostly by luck as she wasn’t the best stalker. She clenched her teeth as the young tom dealt a harsh blow to her daughter, but reminded herself that this was just a spar. It wasn’t that much harder than blows she’d dealt to her own apprentices back in the day.

Copperlark winced at the blow, but didn't let her discomfort show. Blazefang was watching from the side, and the last thing she wanted was to have her mother gushing over her as if she had ever truly loved her. Blazefang didn't care about her or Shrewpaw; it was obvious to anyone in Thunderclan that she adored her only son. Well, live son. Not that Cloudychase needed all that extra ego, what with the rest of the camp cooing over everything he did as if it was a miracle. They were only doing that because of his eye, and Copperlark was sick of it.

With more bitterness than she usually had, the she-cat pounced onto the grey tom, shoving his face into the dirt. She imagined her claws digging into Cloudychase's other eye, blinding that arrogant tom once and for all. But even she knew that she would never have the guts to do that.

Copperlark used Leap and Hold, dealing 8dmg and -15SP

It was pretty clear to Lichenwing that Copperlark was in a sour mood. That was part of the reason he'd offered to spar, a good romp usually left him in a better mood, so he imagined maybe it would help his clanmate, too. Buuut that apparently wasn't the case, as his first blow seemed to fuel the anger rather than distract it, and she viciously turned on him, slamming his face into the dirt.

"Ow," he grunted, the one eye that wasn't pressed into the ground sliding to look at Copperlark. Lichenwing shifted, testing her pin, and she held fast.

Copperlark winced as Lichenwing yelped in pain below her. What was she doing? He hadn't done anything yet... she was taking her anger out on an innocent cat, something she used to blame others for. She released the grey tom at once, instead just half-heartedly sending a few swipes at him. She blinked appologetically at the older warrior, hoping that he could see that she had no bad intentions. Well, her intentions weren't pure, but she never wanted to hurt him... yet.

Copperlark used Front Paw Strike and Desperate Blows, dealing 8(+5)dmg and -14SP

The shift in mood was palpable, and Copperlark practically leapt off him, turning to give a swipe that was clearly had no drive behind it. Lichenwing's worry turned to confusion, and then worry again. He stood apart from her as she apologized with her eyes, and then ducked his head in acceptance only a split second before he rushed forward again. When he was close, he leaped, catching Copperlark with his forepaws and sweeping her legs from beneath her. When she was down, he stood over top of her, one gentle but firm paw placed between her shoulders. Lichenwing leaned down, giving a small grin.

"Are ya, uh... good?" he asked a little lamely. "Need to talk or anythin'?"

Lichenwing used Leap-and-Hold on Copperlark, dealing 8 damage at the cost of 15 stamina. Not going to roll because ThunderClan cats can't be stunned for more than one turn anyway.

"I'm fine," Copperlark replied automatically. She stayed where she was, not even trying to get Lichenwing off her. Why try? It was just a spar, she could slack for the moment. Lichenwing was kind enough to care about her, but that was because he barely knew her. He probably just wanted to be the hero or something, another one of those niave cats that thought there was no evil in the world. Copperlark suddenly felt exhausted just thinking about it.
