Sunflare stretched to his full height as he paced before his apprentice in a small clearing. “Now,” he mewed, “I want to see what you would do if WindClan were to attack our camp this very night. We will spar, and I will not go easy on you. However, you may attack first. I want you to know, Hawkpaw, that I don’t hold back not out of malice, but because we have seen that WindClan does not. We are at war, and even a training spar cannot be a mere kit-tussle. All right now, whenever you’re ready.”

Hawkpaw
Shadowclan Territory
Intense golden eyes watched Sunflare pace back and forth, and Hawkpaw was as still as a statue. What would he do if their camp was attacked? Hawkpaw felt his fur grow hot defensively at the thought, his claws flexing in the ground in a deep rooted instinct to protect his territory. He nodded. He is grateful Sunflare would not hold back on him, for how could he learn otherwise? He was grateful to, for a moment, to Silverpaw, annoying as the tom may be, because maybe practicing with the older apprentice would give Hawkpaw the opportunity to impress his mentor. He nodded at Sunflare’s words. “Okay.”
Hawkpaw got to his paws, shaking out his long fur and tensing up his muscles as he backed up a few paces. He remembered what had gained him the upper hand with Silverpaw, and decided to try it again, this time with more elegance for he’d at least been practicing hunting and learning the motions. Racing towards Sunflare like he was about to pounce on a piece of prey, Hawkpaw leapt forward and onto his mentor. He was still rather skinny and scrawny, but he’d learned how to use his weight, and so the pounce was still effective.
Hawkpaw used Jumping Strike, dealing 9 damage (6 + 3) and costing -7 SP!

Sunflare had expected Hawkpaw to leap onto him. Most cats did, it was probably the most effective way to start a battle. Still, Sunflare knew and even more effective move. As Hawkpaw leaped, Sunflare fell back and rolled over, ready to catch his apprentice with outstretched paws. The move worked like a charm as always. By now he’d used it several times over, once even in a real skirmish. Hopefully, Hawkpaw would learn to emulate Sunflare’s superior strategy.
Attempting Belly Rake… Success! Dealt 15 damage, used 25 stamina
Sunflare 41/50 HP 95/120 SP (-25)
Hawkpaw 5/20 HP (-15) 53/60 SP
