Shadowclan has no chill [c]

Falconmoon raced after a rabbit that he'd missed, furious with himself for not seeing the crunchy pine needle stick on the ground. He could do better than that! He ran after the rabbit with the... okay almost swiftness of Windclan. A Windclanner would have caught the fuzzy little thing by now. He weaved between tree trunks, always about a little more than a fox length away from his prey. If it weren't for the chaotic zigzag pattern, he would have tried to make a leap for it. This rabbit was old and had clearly been chased by cats before.

Falconmoon was so engrossed in his pursuit that it wasn't until he felt the soil dampen considerably that he realized he'd crossed the border. Oh foxdung! He slid to a stop, abandoning the chase, and immediately spun to go back toward Skyclan territory. Of course it was at that moment he heard the sloshy, hurried pawsteps of a cat racing across wet soil. Are you foxing kidding me?! He thought to himself, slowing just a bit as he hesitated. Should he stop and explain his situation or just high tail it out of here?

"I'm leaving!" He called out, but if Shadowclan was anything like their leader... well.. this wasn't about to end without some blood. Despite his words and his clear action of trying to go back to his side of the border... he couldn't help but feel a thrill rush through him. Falconmoon didn't know where it came from. Perhaps this was yet another side effect of having his previous life's memories back. Fighting another cat sounded... fun.

"I think the bigger question is why you were here to begin with," The she-cat mewed, slipping out of the shadows to block the tom's way. He didn't seem to be up to any trouble, but the Warrior Code didn't care whether the intruder was there to cause trouble. As far as the code was concerned, all intruders were to be chased off. Tawnyshadow's claws glinted as she regared the cream-furred warrior. She had watched him chase that rabbit all the way cross the border. Did he even know how far he was from Skyclan territory? Clearly, Skyclan didn't bother teaching their young any manners, and any tales she had heard from older cats certainly didn't do it any favors.

Falconmoon slid to a stop about half of a fox length away from the Shadowclan she-cat. The ground was wet and slick and he slid much more than he expected. His legs were muddied immediately, bringing a flash of anger that he hadn't expected. He'd have to get wet now to clean that much mud and filth off! Suppressing his urge to bristle, Falconmoon took a breath to keep his, or rather Dawnhawk's, fury and vanity at bay.

"I wasn't paying attention. I was chasing a rabbit." An intrusive thought crashed into his mind at that moment. Shadowclan was responsible for the death of one of my sons... He shook his head to clear it as if gnats were attacking him. The memory had been pushed aside with the logic and reason that it wasn't this she-cat's fault that it happened.

Yet the burning resentment still lingered. It caused him to bristle despite his best effort to stop it. His tail lashed in fury. "You're stopping me from retreating!" He snapped, his brain unwillingly trying to find an excuse to start fighting. "I said I was leaving! If you're not going to let me go..." He was growling now. He doubted a fight could be avoided at this point. Fine Dawnhawk, stars curse you! But we're not going to kill her! We do enough damage to get away and nothing else! There was a strange, involuntary acceptance and satisfaction with that decision.

Falconmoon launched his first attack, hoping it would be enough to scare her into letting him go back home without further incident.

"I wasn't paying attention. I was chasing a rabbit."

Tawnyshadow huffed in annoyance, but she couldn't exactly attack another cat because they accidentally crossed the border. It would be unreasonable, and it's not like the tom actually caught the rabbit on shadowclan land... he didn't catch it at all, actually. She'll just have to excort him back to his territory and be done with it.

"You're stopping me from retreating!"

Her yellow eyes narrowed as the tom got far more aggitated. Tawnyshadow didn't move, instead watching the Skyclan warrior warily. What was wrong with him? He didn't have some sort of sickness, did he?

"I said I was leaving! If you're not going to let me go..."

This time, Tawnyshadow took a step out of the tom's way. "You can go, I'll just have to escort you back to make sure you don't steal any-" She began, but she was cut off with the tom going straight for her neck. She felt his teeth sink into her scruff, and before she knew it she was flung carelessly to the side. Her blood burned with rage at the audacity of this Skyclanner. First he tresspassed into Shadowclan territory, then he attacks her when he said he was going to leave? Tawnyshadow lunged forward to sink her teeth into the tom's hindleg. "Did your mother not teach you any manners?" She spat out the words with a mouthful of fur.

Falconmoon lurched forward, finding a strange new thrill in the violence that he hadn't experienced before.

"Did your mother not teach you any manners?" Falconmoon felt a flash of rage. Conflicting memories bombarded his mind. Those of Smokefeather, the mother that took her anger out on an apprentice and less experienced warrior... and Wolfblossom... the warm and caring mother that Dawnhawk never had.

"I... I don't know!" Falconmoon said almost involuntarily. "Yes she did! Don't get me started on her! And don't talk about her either!" Now thoroughly confused and frighteningly furious, he went in for another attack. He had no interest in mercy as he lashed out with razor sharp claws intent on rending flesh from the muscle beneath.

He didn't know? What was wrong with this cat? Were all Skyclanners this unstable in the mind? Tawnyshadow bit back a cry as claws dug into her flesh. She lunged forward, teeth digging into the tom's scruff before shaking him violently and tossing him to the side. "What is wrong with you? Tresspassing into another clan's territory, then attacking the warriors that was going to escort you to the border... don't give Skyclan such a bad impression, will you?" She snarled.

Her swiftness surprised him. Teeth sank into his scruff and he staggered away as blood stained his snow white and shimmering gold pelt. Ow! As she spoke to him, Falconmoon felt a sudden rush of amusement. He let out an obnoxiously loud "PFFFFTTT!!!" Before he chuckled and immediately blurted out: "A bad impression of Skyclan??? Skyclan doesn't need my help for that!" And then immediately realized what he said. He clamped his mouth shut and tried to imagine himself mentally battering the Dawnhawk side of him into silence.

"What I mean is... Uh... " He didn't know. He did, but he didn't. Then the meaning of her entire sentence actually and fully hit him. "I... you're letting me go???" He'd been so engrossed in the battle and confused by the excitement it brought him that he hadn't caught her words way earlier when she was allowing him to leave.

Well now he just felt stupid. He stood there instead of fighting back, now suddenly unsure of what to do next.

Tawnyshadow watched as the tom first burst out laughing then looked angry and confused. That confirmed it: there was definetly something wrong with this tom. Finally, he seemed to realize that meaning of her words... after a few wounds, but considering the state of mind he had, Tawnyshadow was surprised that he was able to think logically at all. "Don't tell me you're unfamiliar with basic warrior procedures. Shouldn't it be well-known that sometimes cats do cross the border on accident, and after you've confirmed that they didn't do anything yet you can just escort them to the border?" She demanded, angrily flicking her tail at both of their wounds as if to prove her point that the tom in front of her had serious issues when it came to basic communication. "Now, are you done, or do I have to fight you again?" She snapped. If it was any other cat she would have been kinder, but this tom did just get her a few new scars. Hopefully that was as far as the tom would get in terms of causing trouble.
