WindClan has 48 hours to match these numbers to the best of their ability, or choose to forfeit. The invasion dice decides who will get to attack first. When the battle begins, each warrior has 36 hours to post before they are timed out.
Perchstar felt determination seep into her pelt as she led the battle patrol out. Despite the problems with the Dark Forest and the Twolegs, her reign of RiverClan had been a relatively peaceful one. They hadn't fought against any other Clans. Their relations with ThunderClan and SkyClan had both improved drastically. For a few moments, she'd hoped that the peace would last forever. But it seemed that had been too much wishful thinking. Not only had Shrikestar made a fool of himself in front of everyone at the Gathering, but one of his apprentices had crossed the border to attack a RiverClan cat. That would not be taken lightly. Diplomacy would not work on a cat such as him... and Perchstar was tired of not being taken seriously when she attempted to discuss another Clan's failings with its leader. No. Today, they would fight back against such injustices. RiverClan would reclaim the territory that had too long been claimed by WindClan. She would neither forgive nor forget trespasses against her Clan. This was what her lives were for.
Though leading the first battle patrol of her career made her feel slightly anxious, reassurance soothed her hackles as she glanced back at the warriors she was bringing. Poppyshine had insisted upon coming, given how she was determined to support her leader and proclaimed best friend no matter what. Since their numbers were growing, Perchstar felt safe enough to allow both of them to go together. Besides--learning first-paw was the best thing for her deputy to see how future relations with WindClan would end up. Stormdance similarly, one of her most trusted senior warriors, was accompanying her not only for his battle prowess, but for her own peace of mind. Most of them had only ever had to battle against foxes. Fighting other cats would be a different beast entirely. But just as peaceful times wouldn't last forever, it was best for those she put her faith in to show her what they were really made of. Rowansong and Egretswoop were younger, but she knew and trusted both of them. Rowansong was the deputy's son, who had grown and learned during his apprenticeship, and his loyalty was unwavering. Egretswoop was more recently named, but every interaction Perchstar had had with the young warrior had made her feel that she was worthy of confidence. This would be as good training as anything else.
Before she knew it--they were there. The Gorge. The scent-markers smelled of moor grass and soil. Soon, that would change. Perchstar moved forward to mark the territory. WindClan would surely notice. This was not meant to be stealthy. It was a challenge--a statement. RiverClan would not stand for their borders being crossed. If WindClan did not know where the markers lay, then RiverClan would have to remind the. "Be vigilant," she told the patrol shortly. "If we must fight for this territory, then we will fight as long as we need. No death should be necessary--but stand your ground. RiverClan will have the Gorge, and we will have justice."

Donning a fox pelt of pale creams and white, what lurked beneath was the youngest cat of the patrol. While she had earned her name recently, the snow-kissed molly that hid beneath the predator's pelt was far from being a mere apprentice fresh out of training. She had already stepped up to the role of a mentor, filling the pawsteps that the cat she now walked truly beside instead of slightly behind had once filled for her.
Part of her was particularly comforted by the fact that all but one of the cats that were part of the patrol had been clanmates she learned to recognize by the sounds of their steps alone. Perchstar, her leader. A molly she'd found herself growing particularly fond of, spending time around simply as company. One who adjusted her voice to account for her overly-sensitive ears, which now were slightly folded back to account for the rushing of the gorge. Poppyshine, the motherly deputy, who had a heart that made it nearly impossible not to find some level of affinity towards her. Rowansong, her former mentor. Perhaps the only tom she found herself truly comfortable around.
The only one she was slightly unfamiliar with was Stormdance. A senior warrior of the clan, at least in comparison to her tenure. She found herself keeping a step away from him, not out of hostility, but simply so she could observe. Imprint her clanmate into memory, to store it within the tunnels of her mind that said It's okay not to focus on him. In a world that persistently fought for her attention, it was crucial to tell herself what she didn't need to listen for.
But also what she did. Perchstar's instructions rang clear, and the warrior stood firm. Made her stature just a bit longer, mimicking the fox that she wore. Willed herself to be. It was certainly not a grand tradition in Riverclan to wear the pelts of predators, and she was certainly not oblivious to the way it unnerved some of her clanmates. Perhaps she would allow them a deeper glimpse into why the pelt hugged her. What it symbolized, not just for herself, but what it had meant for her mother during her time as a kit. Perhaps she would have some of her clanmates wear pelts of their own. It was a distracting thought for another time, silenced by the slightest flick of her whiskers. She would remain silent for the time being, ready to attack at her leader's signal.

Ever since the attack by ShadowClan, WindClan had been on high alert. There were more patrols, and with more warriors joining them. There were always warriors left at camp to defend it, but they had to make sure that there were no more surprise attacks. Speaking of...
RiverClan's stench could be smelt across the gorge and further into WindClan territory. Shrikestar lashed his tail as he led his patrol towards the gorge, where Perchstar and a band of RiverClan warriors awaited them. "Perchstar," Shrikestar snarled, having no time for even-keeled statements. Not after what Nightstar had perpetrated. "It seems you have forgotten which side of the gorge your clan should stand on." They had planned on returning fire to ShadowClan, but it appeared that RiverClan was trying to take advantage. Shrikestar let his claws out. "Shall I put you back there myself?"

Eaglefly followed his father and leader on the patrol. His heart sank at the sound of riverclan as he saw them fast approaching. his dad addressed perchstar and it looked like there would be no talking out of this one.
He prepared himself mentally for battle getting ready.
Batsong followed behind her patrol looking at the rival clan moving in. She sighed gloomily, so this is what the forest had become? nothing but battles. One of fern had attacked a riverclan apprentice and now of course that meant escalation. Escalation seemed to be in abundance these days.
She got ready to protect her clanmates keeping an eye on anyone who was injured in this battle. She hoped to stars she would not lose anyone else

Poppyshine strode close to Perchstar’s side as they approached the WindClan border. Her paws tingled as they approached. She had crossed borders exactly twice: once as a foolish apprentice when she was not paying attention to where she was going, and was promptly punished by the ThunderClan cat who found her, and the other time into SkyClan territory to rescue her daughter and another clanmate who had been snatched away by an eagle. She had not been found that day and was able to return home without any issues. There was no doubt they would be found out while laying down new borders here, though. A clan could not take a territory so easily, and Poppyshine knew that. Perchstar had instructed their patrol to fight as they could, but follow the code all the same. WindClan had to understand that there were consequences for their actions.
Her fur prickled when she spotted the WindClan patrol. They had slipped onto the territory unseen, but were discovered sooner than she had hoped. She glanced at the gorge several foxtail-lengths away and returned her focus to the cats before them. This was for RiverClan’s honor, and Poppyshine would do her best in battle.

The Gorge
Stormdance’s heart pounded with each pawstep as he crossed the border in his leader’s stead. For all his experience and his position as a senior warrior of his clan, he’d yet to have a serious fight with another cat. He’d fought off plenty of predators; foxes, geese, and snakes, but every fight with another cat has always been a spar. Today could, and likely would, bring bloodshed, he knew that much, and he was tense in preparation for it. Still, Windclan’s attack on their apprentice could not go unanswered. He was ready to fight for his clan.
Nodding at Perchstar’s words, Stormdance stayed tense and ready. He glanced at the rest of the patrol. Perchstar, who he trusted completely to lead them. Poppyshine, standing strong and ready at Perchstar’s side. Rowansong, his former apprentice and brother in all but name, who Stormdance felt a brief burst of pride for as he glanced at him. And Egretswoop, who had not spent much personal time with, but knew had been taught by Rowansong himself. Stormdance took a deep inhale as he looked forward again. He was afraid, he always was, but with clanmates he trusted at his back and the leader he felt so much faith in leading them forward, he knew they could win this.
Stormdance’s eyes narrowed as the windclan patrol arrived. His eyes swept over the contents of the patrol, evaluating and preparing, as he stood tall and strong at his classmate's side. He was not looking forward to a fight, but he was ready for it all the same. He was a senior warrior of Riverclan, and he’d repay the injustices done.

Rowansong drifted between marching along at Stormdance’s heels and falling back to walk properly at Egretswoop’s side as the small patrol made their way to the Gorge. Their collective nerves and the strong chance of a fight occurring made his tail bristle slightly. He wasn’t keen on raising his claws against another cat again, but he couldn’t exactly turn Perchstar down when she requested his presence. He refused to deny the trust he’d grown into, even when it could lead to remarking the border with WindClan’s blood.
It wasn’t long before the opposing Clan’s scent strengthened on the air and a patrol showed themselves across the way. Rowansong looked them over narrowly. They looked haggard already— and was that the medicine cat who’d challenged all of Fourtrees not even two full moons ago? Rowansong laughed once, and gave a heartier bark when Shrikestar spoke.
“What an obstinate badger,” he sighed. Raising his voice— speaking mostly to his patrolmates, though he wouldn’t be chuffed if WindClan heard —Rowansong chirped brightly, “He’s got quite the wit, hasn’t he? Perhaps if he spared such illuminations for his own Clanmates, we would not be here to bother him.”

Tigerdance didn't take to kindly to Riverclan on their territory, nor was he pleased by the laughter of one of their warriors. It seemed that warrior in particular was way over his head. Regardless if they had just dealt with Shadowclan, they were still going to face this opponent. They would not give up this territory so easily. Tigerdance let a growl rumble in his throat. He was not pleased with this situation in the slightest.

Soon enough, a WindClan patrol appeared. One with both the leader and deputy, as well as the forest’s most tactless medicine cat... because of course it was. Perchstar was honestly not unhappy with that, however. This would mean that there would be far less chance of retaliation if all WindClan’s high ranks knew they were thoroughly beaten.
Shrikestar’s snarl was almost laughable. Of course he wouldn’t know about the affairs of his own Clan. Perchstar simply flicked an ear, wordlessly agreeing with Rowansong’s well-phrased comeback, narrowing her eyes at the tom. ”Your apprentice forgot their place and crossed our border to attack our apprentice,” she berated him flatly. ”This is simply a response, and a returning of things to their rightful place. Nothing more and nothing less.” She unsheathed her claws in return. Though she took no pleasure in battle, she would admit to herself that she would feel much better once WindClan had been put in its proper place. She was tired of RiverClan being stepped over, ignored, and trusted to bring things diplomatically from a place of harm. Those times were over.
Well, if WindClan had not wanted to fight RiverClan, they should not have crossed the border.
It seemed everything was in place. Batsong’s presence was, unfortunately, noted. Perchstar met her eyes with a warning glare, before glancing back to her own cats. She trusted all of them. This would go in their favor... but even on the off chance it did not, then it would not be their own fault. They would fight to the very last. ”RiverClan, this territory is ours!”
The leader leapt gracefully across the Gorge, not giving another moment’s notice to the moor-dwellers. It was time to see if RiverClan’s battle training was sufficient--and if justice would be allowed to prevail. She would occupy Shrikestar so that he could not hurt her own warriors. Taking the advantage of moving first, Perchstar jumped at the opposing leader, bowling him over with the force of her leap, claws tearing into his fur. This was his own fault for leading his Clan poorly. She would not allow herself to sympathize with a misfortune caused by his own foolish mistakes. The Gorge would be RiverClan’s.
Perchstar used Jumping Strike on Shrikestar, dealing 14 (10+3+2-1) damage and costing 7 stamina.
Perchstar: 80/80 HP 163/170 SP
Shrikestar: 69/83 HP (Defending Buff +3) 170/170 SP

Egretswoop couldn't help a very quiet, gentle chuckle from the words of her mentor. For such a peaceful molly, the sound that echoed out of her chest was nothing short of menacing. Deathly. Hollow, as if her pleasure in seeing Windclan was even less than her having to face the Dark Forest. It promised a fight, a fight she was keen on winning. Something about Shrikestar's words had struck a chord deep within her, one that seemed to tuck away her youth and fear, and instead brought out the fox that she wore on her back. "Let us return the pack of badgers to their den, then, my mentor." She spoke. No- she promised. Further, she seemed to slip into that fox pelt, the essence of the vulpine.
It was Perchstar's call that released her of her leash.
In a glide similar to that of her leader, the space between her and a tiger-striped warrior was closed. Her movements were swift like that of a river, that of the very bird she held her name from. It was almost a near-literal swoop that had her pouncing upon him, claws outstretched. Her goal wasn't to kill, for the time being, but to send the all-to-clear message that Perchstar had called out. From this day forth, it would be Windclan trespassing on this territory.
Egretswoop used Jumping Strike on Tigerdance, dealing 10 (8+3-1) damage and using 7 stamina. Egretswoop 40 / 40 HP 93 / 100 SP [-7]

The Gorge
Stormdance looked towards Perchstar as she spoke to Shrikestar, bunching up his muscles in preparation for the fight to begin. At the order to move and the sight of his leader leaping into battle, Stormdance leapt forward. His mind went blank as he followed pure, training-honed instinct from moons of being a warrior.
After clearing the gorge, Stormdance’s claws found home in the fur of one of the Windclan warriors, crashing into him with considerable strength.
Stormdance used Jumping Strike on Eaglefly, dealing 12 damage (10+3-1) and costing -7 SP.
Eaglefly 41/53 HP (-12) (edited to account for meddie buff!) 120/120 SP

Poppyshine lifted her head and narrowed her eyes at Shrikestar. WindClan has been pushing harshly at everything as of late. She still recalled the ShadowClan cats that challenged back at Batsong about how WindClan had invaded their territory on multiple occasions. Batsong’s interference in other clans’ matters, and now their apprentices were crossing their borders and attacking their clanmates for no reason. WindClan’s behavior will not stand.
She leapt across the gorge after Perchstar and followed up behind her. The last cat she had turned claws against had been Vixenstar when the clans battled off the Dark Forest cats that had taken over their homes. She had fought by Perchstar’s side then too. With how few cats WindClan had with them on this patrol, Poppyshine would remain with Perchstar. Shrikestar was undoubtedly the most experienced cat on WindClan’s side, and while Perchstar would likely be able to handle herself, she trusted the rest of her clanmates to handle the less-experienced warriors together.
Poppyshine drew up her paw and raked her claw down Shrikestar’s side as she came to a stop beside Perchstar. This territory would be theirs, and perhaps WindClan would finally learn to step back and control their clanmates.
Poppyshine used Front Paw Strike on Shrikestar, dealing 9 (10-1) damage and costing 7 SP.

Rowansong
One of WindClan’s warriors seemed particularly unhappy, be it over the current affair or Rowansong’s quip, if the quiet growl that rolled out of him was anything to go by. Rowansong looked away from Shrikestar toward the sleek tabby, eyes narrowing in assessment. He angled his head, watching the other warrior curiously while Perchstar delivered her own reprimand. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Perchstar glance back, just before announcing the start of this dispute and leaping across the border.
That was that, then. Egretswoop matched his remark before leaping at the very tabby he’d been eying, and Stormdance joined the fray as well. Bunching his muscles, Rowansong followed his former apprentice in leaping at the tiger-pelted tom. He dove in close while the WindClanner wrestled against Egretswoop, and because he could not ever quiet himself, “You seemed quite down from across the way. Perhaps our company will alleviate your sour mood?” And sank his teeth into the tom’s shoulder.
Rowansong used Snap on Tigerdance, dealing 7 (8-1) damage and costing 7 SP.

Shrikestar snarled as Perchstar bowled him over. Then he was attacked from another side. They were ganging up on him. "Is this how RiverClan fights?" he snapped, claws at the ready. Well, one good turn deserved another, right? He lashed back out at Perchstar, swiping at her before snapping at her side. Things weren't starting out well, but he wouldn't back down. WindClan would not give up without a fight.
Shrikestar used Swift Strike + Snap on Perchstar, dealing 17 damage and costing 17 stamina.
