WASTE IT ON FIXING ALL THE PROBLEMS
THAT YOU MADE IN YOUR OWN HEAD
"You'll sit vigil tonight, as is custom. Congratulations, Foxtrot, I know you've worked hard for this."
Foxtrot. He had a full name. A warrior's name. A gentle purr rumbled in his throat as he repeated his name in his head with pride. This was all he had worked for, he had traveled from distant lands in search of the mysterious clans and when he had made it - it was ll he wanted and more. He only wondered if Rita and his sister Star would feel the same. If they would feel just as proud.
The past six moons went by in a blink. The apprentice had barely processed how quick time was. It wasn't all that long ago that Foxpaw had found Skyclan. Then, the Great Shake. Like anyone that wasn't born into a clan, he had feelings of not belonging and had to get over that initial anxiety surrounding training and worries of not being good enough. But now? He no longer was spending days isolated or feeling sorry for himself. The scruffy apprentice had become his bright self. A part of him that he hadn't seen since initially met Dawnfeather. Foxpaw finally felt good again.
The next thing he knew was his name being called and promising to serve under Skyclan and the warrior code. Now he was here, sitting in camp as the sunlight began to flood in. He was no longer the depressed apprentice but now a full warrior of Skyclan. Foxtrot. The dark-furred tom yawned as his vigil finally came to an end. He rolled his neck which had gone stiff from sitting there all night. He was tired but there was also this newfound energy within him. Excited to start with the path as a warrior. Wondering what the den would be like, how long till he got an apprentice, and what his first patrol would be like. Foxtrot was beyond himself trying to dream about everything he could do now.
His eyes peered around as cats begin to liven in their dens, starting their day. It brought a soft smile to his expression. Today feeling felt like a chance to start over and keep doing better. Oh, how he wasted so many moons by himself in his own clan because of emotions he struggled to process. Especially when Dawnfeather was captured by Twolegs, and now she was missing. Now he had a chance to get back into clan life and that was something he didn't want to mess up.

Plumleaf nosed her way out of the medicine den, blinking as the early dawn light hit her sleepy eyes. She'd been feeling under the weather for the past few days, and she was thankful Smokepetal had taken such good care of the clan while Plumleaf was confined to her nest. For the first time in a while, she woke up without the pounding headache that had been plaguing her, and she was determined to make the most of this blessing. Starting by catching up with her clanmates, who she'd missed terribly. Spotting Foxtrot near the camp entrance, she ambled over with a smile.
"Morning Foxtrot!" She called as she approached. "How was the vigil? I hope you weren't too cold?" She didn't know the newly named warrior well, but this was as good a time as any to get to know him better.

Foxtrot knew how proud Dawnfeather would be of Smokepetal and him, she was always so supportive and loving - he was glad Smokepetal had Plumleaf. Sure, the tom tried to be as caring as he could, but it didn't come easy to him. With Dawnfeather gone, his heart was bleeding, and bandaging it wasn't something even the most skilled of medicine cats could do. He envied Smokepetal. She had such a specific duty, she stayed busy. While he was a warrior, he didn't have a title and at times he felt like what he was doing wasn't enough. A sigh escaped him, it was deep and caused his whole upper body to lift and fall with the breath.
PLumleaf's chipper voice brought him crashing out of his reverie like a stone on a calm lake. He startled, his fur rising on his neck before he turned to see the medicine cat, "Ah." he meowed, licking his chest fur down. The tom's voice was hoarse from lack of use, "Good morning Plumleaf. All is quiet. Maybe too quiet." he admitted. Foxtrot loved the noise, there were many times during the vigil when he grew restless - so tempted to start humming to fill the silence. "How are you feeling?"
