"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"
Leopardsun took her usual place at the base of the Jaggedrock as her words carried across ShadowClan's camp, looking over the crowd of her clanmates for a particular cat.
Silverkit sat up immediately when Leopardsun's call rang out across camp. Finally, he was properly six moons, and after so much had happened he was more than ready to leave the nursery behind for good. This was his ceremony– it had to be. And becoming an apprentice was the last step he had to take into this new life he'd found between Pineblossom, Forestbreeze, and Honeylight. Fighting to keep his grin tamed (and failing terribly), Silverkit joined the growing crowd, eyes bright and expectant on Leopardsun.
Leopardsun felt that it was a good night for an apprentice ceremony. The moon hung over them in the sky, a beautiful claw-shaped crescent; the stars that she had never cared for glittering endlessly whichever way she looked.
"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Silverpaw. Your mentor will be Honeylight- I trust he will pass his optimism and his loyalty onto you."
She was confident in this choice. Honeylight was one of her closest friends, yes, but he was also a capable warrior with a strong spirit and a cat she could easily trust with her life. How many times had he saved her from herself, when she'd been too caught up in her work to do anything else? Too many to count.
The past few moons had not been kind to Lighttail, but she kept going. Every night, she got up, did her patrols, and generally made herself useful until dawn. Tonight it seemed there’d be a ceremony to break the monotony.
Silverkit. Lighttail felt bad for him that he’d lost his mother, and for Pineblossom that she’d lost her kits, but somehow it all turned out for the best. At any rate, he was family now. She offered the little tom a smile. And Honeylight as his mentor! Lighttail had no doubt in her mind he’d be the best.

Honeylight had joined the gathering crowd at Leopardsun’s call, and almost immediately found himself smiling as he watched Silverkit be called forward. His newly adopted little brother had already seen far too much tragedy for his age, but this would be a chance to start fresh. Then he himself was straightening to attention.
Honeylight still carried his anxieties over being a mentor. After all, the last warrior he mentored hardly turned out…great. But that didn’t mean he wouldn’t try. This was his brother, his family, and he would not fail Pineblossom’s kit. He felt a pang in his chest as he remembered Pineblossom sharing her hopes that he would one day mentor her kits. He would not get to mentor the kits she thought he would, but he could still be there for one of her children. Rising to his feet to move to greet the newly-named Silverpaw with a trademark, bright smile, he leaned down to press his nose to Silverpaw’s.
“Congratulations.” He purred. “We’ll head out first thing tomorrow to start your training! You’re going to be an amazing apprentice, I just know it.”
