The Great Ridge was a place that Smokestep had rarely visited before becoming a medicine cat. The hunting was okay, but it was so far out of the way that there was rarely a need to visit it aside from occasionally refreshing nearby borders... but she'd quickly come to find out that this place was great for finding herbs. Being off the beaten path meant that the herbs were less likely to be beaten underfoot by accident... and that's exactly why she'd chosen this place to hunt them, now. The warm weather had ushered the forest into new shades of green - dark, leafy plants covered the ground in some places, and smaller plants grew between them, yellow-green leaves reaching to the sky.

Smokestep paused to breathe in the scent of the forest, flicking her tail and turning to her patrol companions with a grin. "Alright - this is where the good stuff is... keep an eye out, and bring me anything you think could be useful... but be careful! If it looks dangerous, it probably is. Don't grab anything that's a bright color... ask me first!" With that said, Smokestep padded off, nose to the ground, searching. She spotted an interesting looking plant coming up between a few rocks and moved over to it... but it turned out to be nothing special, and with a quiet, disappointed sigh, the medicine cat apprentice moved off to find something else.

Smokestep is looking at a plant... but it's just a weed!

Wolfblossom was happy to take the chance of helping the medicine cats. She knew little about herbs despite what felt like most of her family being medicine cats, but she understood their importance and usefulness to the clan. She'd nudged a couple other clanmates into coming with, hoping that they would learn something useful, or even just served as pack mules to help the medicine cat apprentice bring stuff back to camp.

"How are you finding being a medicine cat?" Wolfblossom asked, glancing at her former apprentice. It was clear the deputy held no ill-will towards her for the change, and despite her own views Smokestep had trained Falconmoon well. Smokestep had never been one for violence, or even hunting, and she was glad the former warrior seemed to find a better fit. The deputy searched around as instructed, though stayed close to Smokestep out of habit. Something caught her attention, and she padded up to it, sniffing gingerly. It was a plant with a long stem and broad, round leaves. "I found something, I think."

Wolfblossom has found chickweed, not that she knows what it is.

Stoneheart followed the medicine cat and deputy out to the great ridge. Finding herbs was something she had never done before, but if it would help the clan, Stoneheart was always up for whatever needed doing. She and Smokestep were once apprentices together, and the memory of that poor spar in front of their mentors almost made Stoneheart's whiskers twitch. Smokestep wasn't suited to such things, maybe life as a medicine cat was more her calling.

"Smokestep...?" Stoneheart glanced around for the tabby, hoping that whatever she'd found was something useful. "Is this anything useful?" She asked, glancing from the medicine cat to the white-flowered plant uncertainly.

Stoneheart has found daisy leaves.
