Batswarm should have stayed home. If only the thought of looking into his own eyes hadn't moved his paws for him. Everything would have been fine if he had made it to Pine Grove with no interruptions. Unfortunately for the muted calico tom, a porcupine of all creatures seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
A spikey tail materialized out of the regrowth, hitting Batswarm in his side and causing him to yowl with anger. Without much thought, the tom lashed back out.
Porcupine used Tail Smack, dealing 15 damage and costing 15 SP. Body Armor passive is active!
Batswarm used Front Paw Strike, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 SP. Took 3 damage for passive Body Armor.
Moondancer had followed Batswarm out of camp as they made their way toward the pine grove, and it seemed that today was simply not going to go their way. Moondancer saw the tail full of quills too late to call out a warning, and she growled under her breath that Batswarm would be so inattentive. Anyone else and she might have left them, because nobody in their right mind would fight a porcupine. Batswarm was her brother, however, and Moondancer would not sit and watch as such a filthy predator attacked him. The ground beneath their paws was muddy, disgustingly muddy... But this could work to her advantage. A sharp twist of her paw sent the gross stuff into the porcupine's eyes, which would but the Shadowclanners a little more time to get rid of it hopefully. If some of the mud landed in Batswarm's pale fur... Well, that would be his own fault.
Moondancer used Mud Slap for -10 sp, dealing -7 damage. Porcupine's Quill Armor passive is active -3 damage taken on attacks.
Swiftheart was actually out on her own but when she heard the yowl of batswarm getting hit she ran over quickly seeing what had happened she let out a hiss at the agressive attacker.
She glanced at the two warriors who had taken damage from the defensive quills the predator had.
"you have to go for its belly" she explained with a sigh, she felt bad that they had both been poked but luckily nothing looked too bad yet
She saw a chance to do just that and took the risk
swiftheart goes for a belly rake
It worked perfectly as the much more experienced warrior flipped the predator right on over and got critical hits on its exposed belly now.
She really did alot of damage before the predator could right itself.
She stepped back again glancing at her clanmates.

Leopardsun was traversing the territory for one of her regular solo scouting patrols when a series of familiar voices reached her ears. Recognizing one of them as the pained yowl of her son, she abandoned her plans of tracking for the moment and changed course. The porcupine wasn't exactly a welcome sight, but she was somewhat relieved that they weren't dealing with something like dogs or foxes again.
"Is everyone alright?" she asked, diving into the fray.
It was difficult, but not impossible, to avoid the worst of the spines as she attacked; aiming for its face rather than its underside as it looked like it had already been worn down quite a bit.
Still, she felt the telltale sting that accompanied porcupines. It was something she never enjoyed.
Having found not one but two of her kits at the center of the action, she looked them over with mild concern (given that they didn't appear to be seriously harmed, upon closer inspection). "You didn't go picking fights, did you? If you do, remember to be careful."
Leopardsun used Upright Lock, dealing 12 damage and costing 10 stamina! She took 3 damage from Quill Armor.
Even amongst the chaos, Batswarm found the time to cast a toothy snarl at his sister for the hearty slap of mud that met his delicate and fluffy calico coat. He'd remember that. But, even with a muddied pelt and a quill or two stuck in his rear, he was the prettiest cat here.
Not far behind his sibling, came Swiftheart and mother Leopardsun. Both sights for sore eyes as the veteran warrior and deputy knocked the wind out of the porcupine like it was nothing. Belly rake... If Swifthearts suggestion was right, he could get through the rest of this fight without any more damage to his pelt.
A running start got him the right leverage to slide in the disgusting, slimy mud and under the even dirtier beast. Anger seemed through him at the very thought of how his long, fluffy fur would be soaking wet and brown when he stood again. Claws raked across the porcupines belly, effectively hitting its vitals. The beast was done.
Standing, mud dripping from his backside and face, Batswarm could only return a grimace at the question his mother asked. No. He was not okay. Miserable, actually.
Batswarm snarled at her, no doubt over the mud that had conveniently found its' way onto his pelt as well as the face of the porcupine, and Moondancer bared her teeth right back at him. Before she could growl at him to pay attention to his foxing surroundings and blame him for the situation, Swiftheart and their mother had appeared. Swiftheart's advice was not something that Moondancer wished to try herself, it would put her in far too close to those quills, for one. And the few that embedded themselves in her pelt with her attack were terrible enough.
She didn't have to, thankfully, as the two older warriors made short work of the porcupine, and Batswarm was able to finish it off... Drenching himself in mud in the process. Moondancer blinked at him, torn between laughing at the state of his pelt and growling at him for managing to wind up with a porcupine attacking him to begin with.
"I'm fine." She bit out in answer tersely. "These-" Meaning the quills stuck to her foreleg, "-need to go." Now that the adrenaline had faded from the fight, they did sting, and it made Moondancer's tail lash in aggravation as she glared at Batswarm. This was his fault.
Swiftheart was relived to see that her younger niece and nephew were okay. She purred softly just happy it had not been worse... but as soon as the dumb predator had been dealt with it seemed the siblings were intent in ripping into each other next. Swiftheart narrowed her eyes slightly not loving that aton.
Siblings were supposed to look out for one another. Like her, echo and night. This silly drama over a little mud was ridiculously immature. She for one had never cared too highly of apperence to begin with and while she was fine with Bat doing so, it was a problem between the two who were both being passively aggressive to each other.
She gave a little sigh, "alright, come on you two you are on the same team here"
the urge to lightly smack each of them was growing (lightly of course) the two stubborn kiddos needed to be reminded that they were literally littermates and that infighting even at this passive aggressive shenanigan level was not helpful to anyone.
Swiftheart of maybe a moon or so ago wouldnt have made this big a deal over their little back and forth but she was growing up and changing. Ever since she watched her brother kill Redice she had grown more and more out of her apprentice/kittish phase that she had for so long been in. This was begining to be a new Swiftheart indeed, one whose patience for this silly drama was thin.
"Let's get you both back to camp so burdock can look at the wounds... and we can all help Bat clean out his pelt... she said eyes narrowing at Moon.
"... right moon?" she asked it as if it was a question. It was not. It was how it was gonna be.
