The air was warm enough, with a cool breeze rustling the leaves as Wolfblossom gazed out over the camp. Good weather to hunt in, and it seemed that leafbare's harsh snows and cold were behind them at last. There was an kit to be named an apprentice, and once enough cats were in camp, including the newer warrior she had been eyeing as a potential mentor, Wolfblossom leaped to the tallbranch above.
"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!"

Lionkit heard Wolfblossom's call and approached Tallbranch. He didn't know for a certainty but he had a feeling... Today he was going to be different. Today, he was leaving the nursery behind. The clan gathered around him and he waited patiently for the meeting to start. He took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He was ready.

The clan gathered, and Lionkit looked hopeful. He would be in luck, today. "Lionkit, step forward," She mewed with a smile, waiting for him to do so. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time you become an apprentice. From this day forward you will be known as Lionpaw. Your mentor will be Rainfrost. He is young, but a dependable warrior, and I believe he'll teach you everything he can." Wolfblossom nodded at the small gray and white tom. The ceremony was concluded, and she'd leave the newly-named apprentice and mentor to greet each other.

Graypaw had quietly watched as her mother called the clan together. Her mother, so that meant it was an apprentice ceremony rather than one to name a warrior, but she was still happy to see the now-Lionpaw join the apprentice den. She offered him a quick smile, then retreated.
Rainfrost joined the gathering crowd when Wolfblossom called their attention, and he sat watching the ceremony play out. His ears perked up with surprise when his name was called, and he moved to his feet. He didn’t pay too much attention to the nursery, so he hadn’t met the young, newly-named Lionpaw before. He hoped that he could be a good mentor to him, that Wolfblossom’s faith in him would not be misplaced.
He got to his feet and moved to Lionpaw as the crowd dispersed, offering him a slight smile and a nod of his head before he leaned down to touch noses. “Congratulations, Lionpaw. Be ready to begin your training first thing tomorrow.”
