A Slow Return [Open Hunt]

Tigerdance had followed along his clanmates as they made for the territory this fine New Leaf day. The chocolate tom could feel the warmth in the wind as it blew through his long fur, the sunshine felt a little friendlier to him today, even the prey around the territory knew of the change. Everything was becoming more active as the warmth touched the earth. New Leaf was really like the stories he had heard. Hopefully hunting would go well for all of them today. Tigerdance knew he wasn't going to waste anytime.

The tom split off from the rest of the patrol first, following the scent of a nearby rabbit. He knew they wouldn't be nearly as plump as the stories told yet considering New Leaf just begun, but it was only a matter of time til they got bigger. For now he would just stick with what he could catch. When Tigerdance got close he began to creep forward, stalking, getting closer and closer until the chase begun. He was closing the gap, his long legs aiding him in his chase, hoping it would close with his success. When he saw his chance, he finally ended the chase, killing his prey with a swift bite. What a good way to start New Leaf.

Amberstone attempted to catch a hare, she was unsuccessful! -3SP

Amberstone was off today it seemed. She missed the hare she'd been hoping to catch, a signal that her stamina wasn't quite what it should have been still. With a frustrated lash of her tail, she retreated back to the patrol. No one else seemed to be struggling, only making her feel worse. She was her usual quiet self, silently enjoying newleaf and listening to the conversations going on around her. She however, felt no inclination to say much unless she was directly spoken to. She would keep her head down and she would work, but a conversation would need to be initiated before she would participate in one.

Until then, her head was in the clouds as she traveled in the back of the patrol. Most days she could get away with a casual conversation and some days she didn't need to speak at all. Both were fine with her.

Mudshriek walked at the head of the patrol, his tail held high and his ears perked. It was wonderful to see Newleaf returning to the moor, Starclan knew the clans could do with a little good luck after the struggles they'd been having as of late. As the patrol members each went off in search of prey, Mudshriek found a rabbit trail half-hidden among the grass and stalked toward the tantalizing scent. Carefully staying downwind, the warrior crept closer and closer to the unsuspecting creature, getting as close as he could before taking off after it. He was a blur of brown fur, relentlessly chasing his target. At the last second, the rabbit dived into a hidden burrow, too small for even a lithe warrior such as himself to follow.

"Foxdung!" He hissed under his breath, lashing his tail angrily.

It seemed his clanmates were rather unlucky when it came to catching things. He couldn't help but feel a little smug when Mudshriek had missed his prey. He never really cared for the tom much, so any misfortune for the older tom brought Tigerdance a small spark of joy. He didn't let it occupy his mind for too long, there were still other prey to catch, and he planned on catching at least one other thing.

Tigerdance moved away from the others quite a distance, wanting to find something they hadn't scared off yet. Soon he came across a hare, carefully the tom crept closer and closer until the chase broke out. Tigerdance was quick to end the chase, tackling the hare and killing it with a swift bite. Another piece of prey to his name, and for that he was thankful.
