Stonekit and Mistkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Wolfblossom sat in front of the great rock, quietly watching over camp. Patrols had been sent out earlier, and several had returned. There were kits in the nursery, two that had caught her attention. They were more than old enough to become apprentices by now, but Wolfblossom couldn't help but feeling a little guilty still for the situation that they would be training in. The weather was only growing colder, and the twolegs still littered the forest with their traps. At least Dawnfeather had returned from her capture at their paws. All things considered, she had to admit that the clan was mostly healthy, and Skyclan continued to grow despite everything.

Rising to her paws, Wolfblossom called out across the clearing. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the great rock for a clan meeting!"

Stormwatcher was where he normally was at this time of day. Fast asleep in a nice warm nest snoozing away. His ears flicked hearing the meeting call… uhhh did that mean no more nap time ?? He groaned internally slowly getting up to his paws.


He blinked awake slowly and stumbled out still half asleep. Ohh it was wolf! He wondered what this was about hmm maybe blackbear had found crooked paw or something like that.


He settled down looking up at her. Hmm hopefully she wasn’t looking for night time patrol volunteers it was cold outside… couldn’t patrols wait till tomorrow

Slowly, Mistkit edged out from where she was hiding; more accurately she was just peeking her head out from the rock she'd taken shelter behind. Technically, if she thought about it, she supposed she was old enough to climb a tree- but the gathering crowd of cats, even if they were familiar, was startling to her. She was much happier here, at a bit of a distance; close enough to watch and listen.

"Stonekit," she whispered, not sure if her sister would hear her. "What do you think it's about?"

Had something happened again?

Stonekit's head lifted, more roused by her sister's soft voice than she was by Wolfblossom's call to gather. Her words sent a jolt of worry through her, but she couldn't show it. "I don't know. I hope it's nothing bad." She whispered back, sticking by Mistkit's side.

"Mistkit and Stonekit, step forward." She mewed after a few moments, once cats had gathered and she had found their faces in the crowd. A soft snort escaped her at the startled look on Stonekit's face. "Two birds, one... stone. Come, kitten." Stonekit rolled her eyes, and Wolfblossom's heart leapt in joy.

"You've reached the age of six moons, and it's time you become an apprentice of Skyclan. Mistkit, from this day forward you will be known as Mistpaw, and your mentor will be Dawnfeather." She mewed, eyes finding the golden warrior in the crowd, offering her a small smile. Dawnfeather was a kind, good-natured she-cat, perhaps she'd help Mistkit out of her shell.

Her gaze returned to the second of the two siblings, but not before catching sight of another warrior in the crowd, and Wolfblossom smiled, sharper this time, with teeth. Sorry, Stormwatcher, sorry, Birdchaser. "Stonekit," She continued, "you will be known as Stonepaw, and your mentor will be Stormwatcher." An apprentice would do him some good, Wolfblossom had decided, and she highly doubted that he would be expecting her to pick on him for this task. Too bad for him, she was. And Wolfblossom would be watching. "You have much to learn, but I have every faith that your mentors will teach you both well." With that, the ceremony was concluded, and Wolfblossom turned, allowing the two mentor-apprentice pairs to greet each other.

Stormwatcher glanced at the kits ahh right apprentice ceremonies. Wolf assigned the first one off to dawn. Hmm good pick.

He lazily scratched at his ear with a yawn hmm he wondered what he could have for dinner tonight he was pretty hungry all that napping took a lot out of him.


His name was called?? He glanced upward and saw wolfs grin … oh no no no nope nopity nope nopers… an apprentice??? Ughhh that sounded like a lot of work.

He didn’t know clan tradition super well but he knew that he was supposed to be happy about this… but he was dreading having to get up early and do training with a little one.


Hnggg but wolf was staring right at him, she would be watching him close no doubt.


He slowly got to his paws and hesitantly went over to the new apprentices


Erm good job you two he meowed

I can’t believe I have to train you… I barely know what I’m doing myself he thought to himself

Uhh… let’s get you a nest setup in the apprentice den, your new home
If you are anything like me a nice cozy nest will be the most important thing that we set up today… hopefully you will be like me when I was an apprentice and just be content to nap alot and let me do the same he thought but gave a smile knowing that wolf was keeping a close eye on this pairing


When he told her he was willing to take on a little more this is not what he had in mind … shoulda kept his head low … low in his nest and just kept sleeping.


He greeted the other new apprentice as well. Uhh good to meet you too mistkit ermm paw

Clan traditions … made it hard to keep up with peoples names he had enough time as it was due to the fact he didn’t really care about others very much more so just about himself mainly


Uhh we can train some tomorrow… hmm maybe we could do a group session all 4 of us?

I want dawn to be able to help me figure out what I’m doing and if she happens to take on extra work load who would I be to argue with that

Dawnfeather loped over at the sound of Wolfblossom’s call. Wolfblossom, deputy? Birdchaser, leader? Fogfeather and Plumleaf, medicine cats? She was sure that, wherever she was, Beechaunt was proud of her kits. She herself was proud, and she did not know them half as well as she would’ve liked.

An apprentice? Her? Dawnfeather smiled and padded forwards to touch her nose gently to the newly named Mistpaw’s. She’d glimpsed the young she-cat around “camp” a few times, and she’d always seemed sweet. This would be a joy, she was sure… Dawnfeather would not disappear on this young cat like she had Hollowpaw. “Stormwatcher’s right,” she mewed with a nod towards the tabby tom. “You can go get yourself a nice cozy nest in the apprentice den, okay Mistpaw? I’ll be looking forwards to training tomorrow!”

Dawnfeather turned to Stormwatcher with a smile. “Maybe! What do you two think about that?” The apprentices might find comfort in each other’s company, or maybe they’d prefer to train separately so they could surprise each other with new-found skills. It was really all up to them- she wanted training to be as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved. Dawnfeather sized up Mistpaw, trying to work out what sort of training she’d focus on for the younger cat- was she nimble enough to tree-fly?

As her name was called and she stepped forward- following after her sister, hiding behind her as much as possible- Mistkit was painfully aware that she was suddenly the center of attention. At least she wasn't the only one, that was a small but welcome comfort.

Moments passed and she was no longer Mistkit at all, but Mistpaw; apprentice of SkyClan, training under Dawnfeather. She wasn't particularly familiar with the warrior, was vaguely aware that she had recently returned to SkyClan from- somewhere else.

Stormwatcher she was aware of enough to back away slightly from, watching him warily; but Dawnfeather seemed- nice, maybe?

She nodded silently as Dawnfeather told her she could go find a nest, and blinked at the thought of a shared training session. She did feel safer with Stonepaw. "...I wouldn't... Um... I wouldn't mind...?"

Wolfblossom's clear cheerfulness was almost infectious, and Stonekit couldn't help her own excitement as she too was called forward. That excitement was laced with trepidation however, as she looked up into Stormwatcher's unfamiliar, hesitant gaze. "Okay," Right, a nest. They'd need new ones now that they weren't in what passed for a makeshift nursery.

Joint training session? "That would be nice, I think." Stonepaw responded, nodding at her sister. She didn't know either of the older cats all that well, but she knew Mistpaw, and a joint training session would surely be better than being on their own, right? And Dawnfeather seemed to be the more enthusiastic of the two mentors, or at least the less weary of the pair.
