Subject: Whispering Leaves [Whisperear] Mon 28 Nov 2022 - 18:03
The sun cast long shadows across fourtrees, and with the lengthening shadows came the now-predictable chill as the wind rustled through the leaves. The constant whispering was different than what Brackenwing was used to, as was the near-constant chatter of so many cats in such a relatively small space. She'd hobbled - awkwardly, slowly - to the edge of Windclan's little encampment, watching the sun slip toward the horizon in the distance, but her ears flicked back and forth, unable to completely ignore her surroundings. Every once in a while she'd glance around, taking note of the comings and goings of cats around her. She was, to put it simply, bored. A broken leg didn't lend itself to being able to do much other than sit around and talk, and one of those things Brackenwing wasn't feeling particularly fond of if it wasn't with one of her own clanmates. Thankfully, the other clans seemed to favor being among their own, just as Brackenwing preferred being among her own clan.
Glancing around again out of habit, she spotted Whisperear's pale-furred face approaching. Another clanmate she hadn't seen much of recently, with everything being so hectic. She was glad to see that he looked okay, given all the chaos, though. "Whisperear," She greeted with a wave of her tail, "How are you holding up?"
Whisperear lifted their head when Brackenwing approached. They smiled and replied, “I’m doing alright. Just trying to rest.” They’ve been sleeping more than usual. The stress of the situation and the long walk and watching over Coyotegrin’s kits—well, Whisperear did not have much stamina to begin with. The medicine cats were so busy also that they have not been going to Batsong for burnet, and so they’ve had even less energy than they normally did.
Thankfully, they were able to get rest now. Coyotegrin kept with Shrikestar most of the time, but she also kept a closer eye on her kits. It gave Whisperear some reprieve and allowed them to nap most of the day, which spared them from the incessant chatter of Fourtrees. They often felt like they could hear every single conversation taking place, and it drove them mad when they were awake for too long.
“Please, take a seat with me. How’s your leg?” They were glad that Brackenwing was still mobile, but she shouldn’t be moving around much, even with her leg braced.
