Plumleaf led her patrol through Skyclan territory, a sense of urgency in her swift steps. With every passing day, the weather grew colder. Trees were shedding their brightly colored leaves, and the sun had begun to set sooner. Leaf-fall was setting in, and before long Leaf-bare would arrive, bringing sickness and starvation to the forest. Plumleaf had every intention of stocking up Skyclan's herb stores as much as possible in preparation for the harsh moons ahead. She was reluctant to leave her clanmates with Fogfeather confined to the medicine den, but she knew it was necessary. Starclan willing, her brother would be healthy again soon. After assembling a mental list of the herbs they needed most, Plumleaf had gathered a few of her clanmates that could be spared from their duties.
As the cats fanned out over the hilltop to look for herbs, Plumleaf immediately spotted a bush weighed down with bright red berries, their tempting flesh fatal to anyone who was foolish enough to ingest them.
"I'm sure you all know what Deathberries look like, but just in case..." She gestured to the bush with her tail, her tone wary as she cautioned her clanmates. "They're extremely fatal, even one could kill the strongest warrior. Be sure to steer clear of them."

Wolfblossom had been quick to volunteer to join Plumleaf's patrol, grateful for any moment she could spend with her sister, even with other clanmates around. She worried about the two medicine cats, with Fogfeather being so ill and Plumleaf being left to care for him as well as the clan, with the weather steadily growing colder as the days wore on. Finding herbs wasn't something she'd ever been trained in, but Plumleaf had shown them what to look for before leaving camp, and Wolfblossom was eager to help in whatever manner she was able to.
"Alright, we'll find something useful. Promise." She mewed, gently nudging her sister's shoulder before trotting off in search of anything that stood out against the rocky landscape of the great ridge. She had to remind herself that this wasn't a hunting patrol, though the warrior remained on alert for signs of anything moving as well. In part, because there always seemed to be something nasty lurking around the territory, but also...
Mom was exiled, of course her scent would be stale near the borders. Wolfblossom just hoped nothing bad had happened. Usually while out on patrol she'd catch a fresher scent on the breeze... The last few days however, there had been nothing. The whereabouts of a clan exile shouldn't have worried her as much as it did, but Beechfang hadn't been just an exile. She was her mother. She was family. And there was enough sickness and loss going around recently. Fogfeather being so ill was only the latest, and Wolfblossom didn't want to lose any more family if there was a way she could help.
Something caught her eye as she walked, and Wolfblossom padded toward it. Herbs weren't instantly recognizable to her, but Plumleaf would know what this was, she was sure. A tall, thin plant with dark leaves.
"Plumleaf?" She called out to her sister hopefully, "I think I found something. You mentioned these, didn't you?" If they were something useful, perhaps it would help ease the worry and stress she could sense from her littermate.

Willowpaw wasn't exactly sure why she had volunteered for the herb hunt. That didn't mean she wasn't going to enjoy it - it was nice to do something different to training and hunting sometimes. But that didn't mean she knew why she was here.
Focusing, she got back to the task at hand - hunting for herbs. It was a bit like normal hunting really; you scented herbs, you found them, and you caught them. Simple. Just like hunting except the little leaves didn’t run away or squeak.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the bright red petals of a poppy. Despite them apparently flourishing on Windclan's moors, there were poppies dotted around all the territories. Their seeds must blow over from Windclan... Something clicked in her mind. "Err... correct me if I'm wrong, Plumleaf," Willowpaw asked, addressing the medicine cat, " But do you need poppy seeds?" She bit her lip, hoping she didn't make a fool of herself in front of this patrol of mostly, if not all, senior warriors.
Crimsonflame brought up the rear of the patrol, not really interested in talking. Then again, it didn't seem like much conversation was going on anyway, aside from what needed to be said. It was a little weird, hunting for herbs instead of prey. Sure, he did have the basic knowledge to keep himself alive from his time in the Order, but herbs never held as much importance as they did for the Clans. Still, Plumleaf had asked for help, so he was going to help best he could.
Oddly enough, though, the herb he did find was not one he recognized. It was a bunch of tall, white flowers, which he picked at the base of the stem. "Think you could use these?"
