October Medicine Cat Meeting 2022

Plumleaf made her way to Highstones with a proud set to her shoulders. It would be her first meeting as a full medicine cat, and she couldn't help but feel accomplished. As she approached, she noticed the worry on the Sandypaw and Dovesight's faces, and her own expression darkened with concern.

"Hello Dovesight, Sandypaw." She greeted warmly, nodding to each of them. "Is everything alright in Riverclan? You look worried." It was always hard to see another clan suffer, even though Riverclan and Skyclan hadn't always had the best relationship. It was at times like these Plumleaf was grateful to be spared from the typical "clan-rivalry" mindset that plagued the warriors in her clan. Trouble for Riverclan could lead to trouble for Skyclan, and as medicine cats it was their duty to look past  inter-clan conflicts and help each other, regardless of their clan's feuds.

Batsong went behind her apprentice slowly. She let them go ahead of her once they were close enough and so she arrived a bit behind but still present. She was exhausted but tried not to let it show. Something seemed to be bothering riverclan but she hardly had the energy to worry over it … if something was super urgent she hoped dove and sandy would let them know but she had her own issues to worry about mainly trying to keep her eyes open for this thing and not pass out asleep right here and now before they got to the stone. She had not slept well at all since Scorchtalon death. Still she did her best to support her colleagues i hope everything is alright… she said quietly but I trust riverclan will tell us if they need help she purred looking to her apprentice and plum leaf

Fuzzybelly too was rather pensive. Leaf-fall was beautiful but it belied the harsh leafbare behind it. With the cold came sickness, and he only could hope that StarClan would see them through.

"You will be fine, Burdockpaw. I just know it."

The fluffy brown tom found himself strutting to the mouth of the cavern before her. Burdockpaw knew the way, but a random cat coming during a medicine cat meeting would have been bizarre without context.

He popped his head inside. "Hullo, everybody. I've finally taken an apprentice! I'm very excited to see what she does for ShadowClan and for the rest of us."

He waited for his apprentice to come inside. A former warrior, taller than he was, with a salt and peppered pelt, fresh with the sign that brought her to him, the "red lightning" scar on her flank. In his frantic mind, preparing himself for whatever StarClan would share to them, he had forgotten if she was wearing the pelt from her rite of passage.

"This is Burdockpaw, everyone!" Fuzzybelly trilled, sunny and glowing.

Burdockpaw lumbered up the trail to Highstones with her mentor in the lead. Her badger pelt was worn proudly- despite no longer being a warrior she refused to give up the pelt she nearly died for and earned. It helped keep the chill off of her as well, and with her long fur she was quite warm. Finally, Fuzzybelly and herself made it to the group of other medicine cats, all talking amongst themselves. Would she really have to make small talk with these cats the rest of her life? As Fuzzybelly introduced her, she stood behind him in her trained-in warrior stance out of habit. She probably looked pretty frightening- a large cat with numerous scars on her neck, flank, and face still crusting over from not being fully scarred yet. She stood there, staring silently at the other medicine cats with her mismatched eyes, her cold expression not warming.

Batsong greeted the shadowclan cats as they approached. Hmm a new apprentice for Fuzzybelly? Good, it was important the clans all had 2 med cats she supposed.  This one had a giant badger pelt on... guess it was a shadowclan thing... She had been seeing more of the SC leader around in camp but best not to talk of such things at all here, this was a place for peace and as such no need of politics getting in the way of anything. Still, best to keep good relations with their new potential ally

"Good to meet you" she offered the newest appretnice.  "Im batsong of windclan and this is my apprnetice Birchpaw she gestured flicking her tail to them.

The Riverclan pair seemed worked up over meeting the new shadowclan med cat...

Maybe it was just her but she felt like they were a bit... jumpy at times... It would be nice having another fellow hybrid med cat who knew basic battle training.  In case anything ever did come after them during one of their meetings.  She sometimes felt if a pair of badger came after their group it would be her and some riverclan kits against the badgers since she was the only other battle trained one here.  Thank the stars another warrior turned med cat was here now.

She made a mental note to maybe show Birchpaw some of the minimum basics of battle training later.

The Riverclan cats had led the way practically running from the newcomer to the stone.  Batsong shrugged... and she thought she was the shy one.

Following after them she rested beside the stone and slowly drifted asleep...



When she awoke it was unlike any other starclan dream...

She was floating up above so at peace just like a dove.  It felt amazing, the entirety of the forest below her as she looked down.  It was as if she was free and flying.  She could spot the different places in windclan she knew so well.

But then things took a turn when it began to shake the ground below buckling and caving in on itself as it fell into a darkness of ... nothing.

She still felt like her body was floating but the ground was slipping away all to a singular point of darkness where nothing escaped.  

The next thing she knew she jerked back awake sitting up quickly and hissing in confusion and fear she jerked away from the stone.

Eyes flashed back and forth as she tried to catch her breath and figure out what in the world that was.  She saw Dove and Sandy both having ... similar - ish fearful reacitons... did they have the same thing happen to them?

Usually the med cats did not talk about their dreams but this... this was differnt all together.

She stared at dove wide eyed and nervous.  "You had it too?"
she questioned

Fuzzybelly touched his nose to the stone. The familiar feeling of floating took him out of consciousness...

And never left.

His eyes adjusted to the weird lighting. Sprawling woodlands, the marshes... is this what StarClan saw every day? All their kin, running underneath their paws? Parallel lives?

A gutteral choke cut his train of thought. The land itself gave way, there was no other way he could describe it. Where proud ShadowClan marshlands once were slid into an unknown depth. It was if all of the forest was eaten from the ground up.

But, how, what? I... I have to tell Nightstar!

As earth on the edges continued to fall into the endless mouth, Fuzzybelly felt himself returning to his paws, the vision leaving as he blinked. He was back in Mothermouth.

"Great StarClan..."

His heartbeat lingered in his throat as he turned to face the others.

"If all of us saw this... this is for all the Clans. Our whole forest, our ancestors' land, our ancestors themselves. What will become of the Moonstone?"

Fuzzybelly didn't expect answers. He sat, contemplated the vision, scrying for details. What else could they do?
