Stoatkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The day was still early, not quite sunhigh, though most of the Clan seemed to be stretched out in the heart of the clearing, sharing tongues softly between each other. It was a good day, with good weather, and that made it the perfect day for a ceremony. Leaping onto the Tallbranch, Birdchaser spent a moment only. surveying the Clan. Then: "Let all cats old enough to climb the trees, gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!"

Stoatkit had been sprawled out near the nursery, drifting in and out of sleep. A sudden call from the deputy seemed to be just enough to shake him from his tentative sleep, however. Rising to his paws, the kit groggily stumbled forward before placing himself under the Tallbranch. He loved attending his clan's meetings. They were the only time he could feel like a warrior. Stoatkit stared up at his deputy, shaking himself slightly in an attempt to keep himself awake.

Stoatkit was quick to arrive, and Birdchaser offered him a nod as he settled down in the Tallbranch's shadow. With him and the rest of the Clan gathered, she lifted her voice to begin the ceremony properly. "Stoatkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it's time to begin your training as an apprentice. From now until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Stoatpaw. Frostbite will be your mentor." Her tail flicked once, and with that, she leaped from the Tallbranch to join in congratulating the new apprentice.

Frostbite hung around meetings like this, out of duty if nothing else, but she was surprised when she was appointed Stoatpaw.

Stars, it felt like she just became a warrior. She could only hope to do SkyClan proud.

“Hey there, congratulations! We’ll get started in the morning. You’ll be sleeping with the apprentices tonight.”

She dipped her head, meeting her nose to her new apprentice.

“You’ll be just fine, climbing and fighting with the best of them.”

Half of that was for herself; as a newer warrior, she was shocked that she would be considered as a mentor.
