Subject: predator and prey [C] Mon 15 Aug 2022 - 6:30
Birdchaser's tail swished side to side as she padded across stony ground, ears angled forward. It was a nice day out today– it was warm, though not as blazingly hot as it had been, and the humidity from the recent rains had mostly subsided. Hopefully, the better weather would draw some of the more selective prey out of hiding. With the rest of the patrol dispersed, she turned towards Driftcloud, offering them a polite bow of her head. She hadn't spoken to him much before, but he was one of SkyClan's senior warriors, and that earned respect. "I hope things have come out of hiding. Don't wait on me." With that, Birdchaser nodded again to send them off on their own hunt as she padded away to start searching for prey of her own.

OOC: text here
Driftcloud was minding their own business as they padded along with the rest of the patrol, simply enjoying the nice weather. Having half of ShadowClan within their camp made things a little cramped, so it was a welcome relief to be able to roam the territory without interruption.
The group began to split off, and before the warrior could do the same, Birdchaser gave him a polite nod. Birdchaser the deputy. Why would she give him a nod of respect? They supposed they were an older warrior...One of the oldest now.
Stars, how time flew. They didn't feel that old...were they?
"Uh, sure," they replied, caught off-guard. Driftcloud stood there blinking for a moment, then wandered off to do some hunting of his own. There was a rustling nearby, and they dropped into a hunting crouch, stalking the source of the noise.
Before they could pounce on the prey, a hawk swooped down and landed on his catch. Frustrated, he growled and charged forward, swiping at the bird with claws unsheathed. He could take a hawk, easy.
"Stars above, birdbrain, that was mine!"
Driftcloud used Front Paw Strike on the Hawk, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 stamina.

Before Birdchaser could find anything more than annoyingly-skittish mice, commotion broke out behind her. She was on alert in an instant, ears pricked and whirling around in search of Driftcloud's yelling. A hawk had swooped down on him, it seemed, and now the senior warrior was clawing at its chest feathers. Surprise and quiet fear stilled her, but she sprang forward in an instant. Distantly, she wondered if that was how Briarthorn had felt, watching her latch onto birds twice her size as an apprentice.
"Is this your prey of choice? Hawks?" She called out as she skidded up to the warrior's side, pausing just a moment to gather her weight beneath her. "Watch out," was her only warning before she kicked off the ground, claws digging into the raptor's chest and wings. The pair went rolling, squawking and hissing at each other, until Birdchaser had firmly planted her paws against hit, holding it against the earth. "Hah! Good luck stealing prey now."
Birdchaser used Leap and Hold, dealing 8 damage and costing 15 SP. Hawk is pinned for 2 turns.
