Iceheart
Iceheart was going mad with worry. There was not a minute of the day since the rapids had hit ShadowClan that she did not think of those that were missing. Specifically, her apprentice Honeypaw and best friend Forestbreeze. They were only two of nearly half the clan that had gone missing. A few cats had entered ThunderClan since the initial incident, and Iceheart kept hoping that Honeypaw and Forestbreeze would be among them. As the days continued, though, Iceheart was less and less optimistic. They would have heard word by now, right? If they haven’t, then…
Her mind swam and dipped with thoughts of what may have happened. She thought of how she was thrown about in the water. She thought of her clanmates that were here, with their broken legs and twisted paws. She thought of the poor kit who had drowned, who Roseburn could not save. She thought of Honeypaw who was so terrified of water, who could swim even worse than typical non-RiverClan cats could...
Iceheart had been pacing back and forth in the ThunderClan for the past hour. Unlike her emotional state during the Dark Forest invasion, which had left her numb and lethargic, she felt like she couldn’t stop moving. Her mind was swimming and she was not paying attention to anything going on in camp right now.
Beetleshade was enjoying a hard-earned meal after her patrol- or rather, she was trying to. She'd been watching for an undeterminable amount of time as a Shadowclan warrior paced back and forth restlessly. She'd attempted to ignore them as she did with the rest of Thunderclan's guests, but the distraction made it almost impossible to eat. Yellow eyes flitted back and forth in time with the warrior's pacing, until she couldn't stay silent any longer.
"Hey, uh, I don't know if you realized, but there are better ways to exercise than just walking around in circles. Besides, you're not really going anywhere." Beetleshade said sarcastically, chucking under her breath. She didn't see any reason to pretend to be friendly around these cats as she did with her clanmates, they'd be enemies again the minute Shadowclan went home.
Frostednight was passing Iceheart on her way to where ShadowClan was sleeping when she stalked dead in her tracks. Her blood ran cold at Beetleshade's sarcastic tone with her clanmate. Unacceptable. "Shut it." She snapped at the ThunderClan warrior in almost a hiss and a growl combined. Her multi-colored eyes turned to face the cat that dared be rude to Iceheart. They glittered with a dark emotion; but what was undetermined.
❒ Briarpaw had been watching the exchange between her clanmate and the Shadowclan visitors with an unreadable expression. She frowned as she felt the tenseness that lingered in the atmosphere. That wouldn't do. They should all try to act more mature.
❒ With a goal in mind, the young she-cat made her way over to the three with a gentle smile. As she closed the distance, she dipped her head and greeted them, "Good day everyone." She tilted her head as she took in their expressions. "Good to see you, Beetleshade," she added as she passed the warrior to stand in front of the other two. "You must be Iceheart and Frostednight?" she questioned with a curious expression. She had taken the time to try and identify the names of their temporary residents to expand her knowledge more. She was a sucker for learning.
❒ She shook her head and smiled. "My name is Briarpaw. I'm a rather new apprentice." She paused for a moment and tilted her head as she regarded Iceheart. "You are very worried about your missing clanmates," she stated with a sorrowful look. "I hope you all find each other again soon. I could not imagine getting separated from my family..." she trailed off as she thought about a few things.
❒ The young molly sat down and neatly wrapped her tail around her paws. "You do not have to answer this but what is Shadowclan's territory like?" She looked down bashfully. "I like to learn new things whenever I can," she meowed softly.

"Hey, easy, easy," Eveningmoon meowed, wandering up to the commotion with his limping gait. "At least pretend to like each other, hm? Tensions are high, I know, but fighting is gonna get us nowhere."
The dark-furred tom took a seat by Beetleshade, casually licking his chest fur. He kept a bright blue eye on the two ShadowClan mollies as well, hoping to prevent any more spats. With the camp this cramped, the last thing they all needed was a fight breaking out. Briarpaw approached as well and thankfully eased the tension; pleasant conversation was better than snips and snarls. Eveningmoon gave Briarpaw a knowing, thankful look and went back to cleaning the white star on his chest, eavesdropping unabashedly.
Iceheart paused in her pacing to look towards the ThunderClan cat that called out to them. Her ear twitched and before she could have the mental capacity to think up something to say, Frostednight supplied her response for her. Within moments there were two more ThunderClan cats present, though they at least seemed more amicable than the first cat who spoke. Iceheart had learned none of the ThunderClan cats names yet. She’d been too distracted to even attempt.
She shifted a bit closer to Frostednight’s side, feeling the tension in the air and deeming it better to sit close to a cat she knew for certain was on her side. Her hollow gaze focused a little easier now that there was a conversation to be had. Thankfully the conversation moved too quickly for her to offer a retort to the first cat. “Iceheart, yes,” she finally mewed to Briarpaw. Her eyes swept over the other three cats. “I apologize for not catching your names sooner. Thank you for the introduction, Briarpaw.”
Were her words as hollow-sounding to these other cats as they were to her own ears? Iceheart still felt like she hadn’t relearned how to socialize since she was an apprentice—and now here was an apprentice speaking to her with far more fluidity than she could manage.
“ShadowClan is nice. It is easy to hunt there and it’s quieter than it is here,” Iceheart replied. Her explanation was vague, but Nightstalker had also been vague while they’d been housed here, and so she thought it best to follow her deputy’s example. “I suppose I knew that ThunderClan was noisier due to the Thunderpath, but I didn’t realize it could be heard all the way into your camp.”
This was good. This was something to focus on. This was easier than the rampant circular thoughts about whatever trouble Honeypaw or Forestbreeze or any other of the ShadowClan cats might have gotten into.
Molepaw stood farther away from the group of Shadowclan cats, noticing her sister talking to them. Slowly she walked to her sister's side, feeling undeniable sympathy for the Shadowclan cats. They were injured and separated from half their clan. She wasn't very talkative, but she did softly say, "I do hope you reunite with the rest of your clan. Maybe we can all work together to figure out how to..get used to the new situations." She felt embarrassed speaking out like that, but she did want Shadowclan to feel as much at home as they could be.
"Make me." Beetleshade snapped back, a growl rumbling deep in her throat. Her claws flexed; she was just itching for either of them to step out of line and give her a reason to get her claws dirty. Minnowstar couldn't be mad at her if they had technically started it. Unfortunately before the situation could escalate further, two more of her clanmates attempted to diffuse the rising tensions. Beetleshade reluctantly sheathed her claws with another glare toward the Shadowclan warriors, holding back a snappy retort at Eveningmoon's suggestion that she pretend to tolerate them. She flicked her tail in greeting as Molepaw approached then turned back to her meal, eating in silence while the other cats conversed.
