Foxpaw padded carefully behind her mentor as the pair approached The Owl Tree, listening to Comfreyheart attentively. She shuddered at the thought of an owl's talons coming down to fell a cat without remorse.. She was glad the warrior was with her.

As they came closer to the hunting grounds, Comfreyheart... splashed some water toward her? Foxpaw widened her smile, relaxing her stride-- though not without a retaliating 'attack' toward her mentor.

With a determined nod to Comfreyheart's instruction, Foxpaw smelt the air for any prey- or any predators, for that matter- near the tall oak. A moment later, she picked up scent of a wood mouse; quickly she slunk to the ground. Slow, measured strides led her closer and closer to the rodent.. The mouse's earthy scent was little more than a tail-length away. Bunching up her legs, she waited for just the right moment..

A powerful pounce landed Foxpaw her prey. A few more leaves crunched loudly under her body than she would have wanted; but the catch was clean enough. The apprentice gave a quiet thanks to StarClan. Lifting up the fresh-kill in her mouth, Foxpaw turned back to Comfreyheart proudly.

"Thank you," she smiled, giving an appreciative nod to her mentor. Taking a moment to bury the mouse, Foxpaw again smelt the air. ..Nothing. Careful to stay downwind, she padded father from the huge oak. There was hardly any cover, now, but Foxpaw eventually caught scent of a crow. Thankfully, the bird was preoccupied drinking from the puddle water- it hadn't noticed her yet. She'd still have to be cautious, though.. Leaping too far would send her straight into the water.

Readying herself once more, Foxpaw kept her steps as silent as she could make them; creeping closer and closer to the dark-feathered bird. Fluttering wings flew back into the sky- she had gotten too close! Trying to salvage the hunt, Foxpaw jumped for the crow-- but only finished catching a tail-feather.. And ended up half in-puddle, water splotching her paws. "Mouse dung.." she murmured under her breath, awkwardly shaking her legs of the water. At least the splash wasn't too loud.. or, at least, hopefully not loud enough to alert anything within the forest. Foxpaw didn't enjoy the thought of coming close to any predator.

At Comfreyheart's voice, Foxpaw turned round back to the warrior. Her mood lightened a bit from her mentor's encouragement; it was just one crow, anyway! Foxpaw was sure she'd catch another piece of fresh-kill before the training was over. She furrowed her brow; a strange noise emitted from the Owl Tree. It couldn't be the wind, it was far too still to make such a noise.. Foxpaw took a pawstep closer, the sound was only growing louder and louder- and came a flash of terrible, large wings, before a burst of black fur pounced on the owl.

"Comfreyheart-!" The exchange of fur and feather was quick; Foxpaw almost froze at the sight of the giant talons connecting with her mentor. She quickly regained her composure, Foxpaw needed to help, now. "Go away, you stupid owl!" Unsheathing her claws, the ginger tabby dashed to the huge predator; preparing herself for the right moment.. With all the strength she could muster, Foxpaw released her strike unto the owl's form.

Foxpaw used Front Paw Strike, using 7 stamina and dealing 6 damage.
