A first meeting

Batsong had spent lots of time recently in the nursery helping with the new kits that were here. She was so happy that everything went smoothly during their arrival. She had gotten the queens new bedding and dropped off some food for them as well.


Looking over, she spotted a little molly kit with a thick white furry pelt and cute amber eyes. She smiled a little waving her tail in greeting.

Batsong was a shy, reserved cat. Didnt talk lots but was very friendly especially around new kits. She also had a speaking stutter that she had since she was a kit.

"h-hello t-..there snowkit" she purred happily sitting next to the kitten.

"Hello Batsong" Snowkit replied.


Snowkit jumped as high as she could but when she landed she fell on her side. Embarrassed she went back to her mother.

Snowkit was a very hungry kit.

Batsong purred softly watching the young kitten. She giggled a little at her good jump, in time she would learn to also land on her paws.

She wrapped her tail around herself and looked out at the camp from the nursery entrance. Now that the kits were doing well others could stop by and meet them too she hoped.

Honeykit walked towards the nursery from the elder’s den. She loved seeing her Papa. Soon, she would be an apprentice! The molly was so excited.

The ginger she-cat spotted Batsong and followed her in. When she poked her head inside, she saw Snowkit.

“Good morning!” Honeykit chirped. “How’re you doing today?”

" I am doing very well. How are you doing?" Snowkit replied.

Snowkit was so exited to see Honeykit. Although Snowkit was always excited to see anyone. But Honeykit was her denmate.

“I’m great, thanks for asking! I’m gonna be an apprentice soon.”

The short ginger she-kit sat next to Snowkit. “What do you want to do today? I think they just got us some moss.”

Snowkit felt sad that Honeykit was not going to be her denmate anymore but at the same time she felt happy for her.

"I want to work on my jump. Let's throw some of the old moss to each other." Snowkit replied.

She wanted to practice her jump so that she wasn't embarrassed next time and could actually land on her paws.

“Jumping is lots of fun! Let’s do that.”

Honeykit tried rolling a ball of moss. The queens must have worked magic, because her clumsy paws couldn’t make a pretty mossball like they could.

“Catch!” Honeykit called, throwing it up in the air.

Snowkit saw the ball of moss in the air and jumped. She was able to catch it but when she landed she fell on her side again.

"Mouse dung!" Snowkit exclaimed frustruated with herself.

As much as Snowkit was angry she was determined to practice until she landed firmly on her paws.
