The drizzle that had been soaking camp for the better part of the evening had finally stopped, leaving the air uncomfortably humid and still. Grumbling, Mistyfalcon forced his weary paws out of the elder's den. It really wasn't much better outside and could hardly be considered fresh air, but the aging tom needed to be out of the stuffy den.
His thoughts had turned to his family more recently. Murkystar and Batglow, Loudnose and Condorpaw... He could only hope that Basilbloom wouldn't join them so soon. Swiftheart and Nightstalker seemed to be doing well, as did his younger kits, well, mostly. Iceheart's words echoed in his head still, and he hoped that he might be able to find Leafpaw and talk. Mistyfalcon had never been one for flowery words or knowing how to talk to others, but he needed to try. He'd been distant enough recently, after everything, and even now a large part of him wanted to turn around and crawl back into his nest.
He shook the impulse away. "Leafpaw!" Spotting his daughter, he called out softly to her. It didn't seem as though she were overly busy with anything. At least, he hoped not. If any cat asked, she was on elder duty. Her father was an elder, the excuse would hold up.
