Subject: Lichenkit’s Apprentice Ceremony Wed 8 Jun 2022 - 7:17
Tail tip twitching, Briarthorn leaped atop the Tallbranch and wasted no time calling the Clan before her, no matter how awkward it felt. She was ready to get this over with. ”All cats old enough to climb a tree, gather beneath the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting!” She mewed, voice straining ever so slightly. She was not used to this at all.
Briarthorn calling a ceremony was certainly a strange sight, and Beechfang wouldn't have been surprised to hear the older she-cat was uncomfortable on the tallbranch. She could sympathize with that, though someone had to perform these duties when the leader and deputy couldn't. She and Briarthorn had... Talked, and Beechfang was simply eager to see another of her kits become an apprentice. Quickly, she smoothed Lichenkit's pelt, a paw gently keeping the young tom still for a moment. More of her kits were becoming apprentices... Soon it would be back to the warrior's den for Beechfang. She would be glad of it, but she worried for the safety of her kits all the same.
Lichenkit, in one word, was excited. Why wouldn't he be? He was gonna be able to explore out of camp, learn how to fight, climb the highest trees! He could hardly stay still as Beechfang smoothed his fur. (Which felt like it took forever; but it didn't matter, he was gonna look his best!) As soon as his mother finished, he sprinted toward the clearing, unworried about the warriors he got in the way of. He glanced at the apprentices' den; which would be his den soon..! and sitting down seemed impossibily difficult. Lichenkit looked up at Briarthorn, eyes shining.
Once Briarthorn had her sights on the not-so-little Lichenkit, she gave Beechfang a rather awkward nod and began the ceremony officially. ”Lichenkit, please step forward. You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From this day onward until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Lichenpaw. Yewfrost shall be your mentor. Though he may be young, if you pay attention snd put your heart into your training, you will learn much from him.” Briarthorn leaped from the branch and murmured a quick word of congratulations, before stepping away and shuffling to the outskirts of camp.
