Poppyshine was relieved that more of the kits were moving to apprenticehood. There weren’t many apprentices in the clan at the moment and it was nice to see kits leaving the nursery to learn how to be a warrior. One kit had been ready for a while now, but Poppyshine waited a little longer to ensure that all available mentors were healed up from the medicine den and able to continue their work for the clan. Now that they were, she took her place on the Willow Branch. She still felt a bit unsteady there, not used to it being the new deputy, but she managed to hold her balance. She lifted her chin and announced, “Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting.”
Harebounce moved to walk alongside her daughter, tail gently tapping her flank like a butterfly alighting on a flower. For a long while she had honestly wondered if Grebekit would ever be strong enough to become an apprentice, much to her dismay. Owlshriek had already been a warrior for several moons now, so as his littermate she would normally have been right alongside him. It pained her to see her little bird confined to camp for so long.
Still, today was a good day. The tortoiseshell gave the young black and white bicolor a quick lick behind her ears before sending her off into the crowd with a stupid grin. Today, her daughter could finally become an apprentice!

A slight purr rumbled somewhere deep in her chest; a little quiet and broken from infection, but still ever present with the physical reassurance from her mother. Since her little trip outside of the medicine den a few sunrises ago, Grebekit had found more strength returning to fragile limbs, and while she did find herself to be tired by the middle of the day, she knew that her body was on the mend. Her previously crusty fur was now neatly groomed, slightly illuminating just how frail she had become, but it only served to spur the little molly on further.
Parting ways with Harebounce, she waited for the ceremony to commence, looking up at the newly appointed deputy with excitement and mild amounts of impatience.

Poppyshine gave Grebekit a gentle smile. The poor cat had been sick for quite a while, but with her condition finally improving, she was to be an apprentice. Poppyshine was happy for her. She knew that she was going to be a fantastic apprentice for whoever apprenticed her—speaking of.
She mewed, “Grebekit, you have reached your age of six moons and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Grebepaw. Your mentor shall be Dovesight, who I trust to pass on her knowledge and loyalty to you.” She caught Dovesight’s eye briefly in the crowd, giving her a smile as well, before she stepped down from the Willow Branch to allow mentor and apprentice to meet.

Dovesight had still been feeling sore, but for the most part, her wounds had healed, and she was returning to her warrior duties. She still found herself eyeing the shadows, as if one of those monsters might still be lurking in there. It was scary, not really knowing for sure that they couldn't come back. The dark forest cats had been around for most of Dovesight's life, so this fear would most likely be one that stayed for the rest of it.
Poor Grebekit seemed to have a worse time though, having been extremely sick during the events. She was shocked when she was named as the kit's mentor. The molly wasn't actually much younger than her! Still, the look in Poppyshine's eyes told Dovesight she knew what she was doing. So she went forward with her part in the ceremony, touching her nose to Grebepaw's.
"If you feel like you're up for it, we can start training tomorrow, if that is alright? Or if you'd rather wait a bit to get your energy up?"
With the apprentice having been so sick for so long, Dovesight found herself grasping for pine needles. She knew she had responsibility, and that she was technically the one in charge, but she didn't want to push her apprentice too hard when she was still healing!
Her cheeks grew a little hot with the attention now directed towards her, wholly aware of her age as she was finally apprenticed, touching her nose to a warrior who was barely moons older than herself. Grebepaw couldn't deny the weariness that nipped at her heels and made her paws drag a little, lingering fatigue poisoning her every move; but Dovesight's proposal of beginning training as soon as possible made her tail swish in kit-like excitement, eyes bright as she nodded.
"I would love to!" The molly's voice was caught in her throat a little, coming out softer than intended, but her enthusiasm was apparent in every part of her features.
