Subject: Honeykit's Apprentice Ceremony Sat 23 Apr 2022 - 13:21
Another night meant another apprentice. Frostgaze swiftly leaped onto the Jaggedrock, the starless sky dark as the void. Frostgaze was, at the least, fairly visible due to his pelt color. Unfortunate for a Shadowclan cat? Perhaps. Nevertheless, his voice echoed through the clearing as he called a meeting. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"
Honeykit scrambled out of the nursery, then quickly settled down as best he could. He settled beneath the Jaggedrock, trying to keep still and calm. He gave his shoulder a final few anxious licks while everyone got settled, trying to make sure his fur looked nice. He’s so excited. He’s actually becoming an apprentice! He looked up at Frostgaze with bright eyes.

Another day, another ceremony. It hadn’t been long since her warrior ceremony, and now another kit was going to be entering apprenticeship. Iceheart walked wearily to the center of camp and sat down to observe the ceremony like any other. Glancing to the side, she noticed Honeykit, who was practically vibrating where he sat. He must have been told that it was his ceremony. Well…good for him. He was excited to be an apprentice. She hoped he would receive a good mentor.
When Frostgaze's pale eyes found the form of Honeykit, he started the ceremony. "Shadowclan! I have gathered you here to witness the naming of a new apprentice. Honeykit, step forward." He waited a few moments for Honeykit to do so before he continued. "Honeykit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Honeypaw. Iceheart will be your mentor, I trust that she will pass on her stoicism and aloof nature to you." Quietly, he leaped down, watching for a moment as mentor met apprentice before disappearing off somewhere.
Honeykit stepped forward at Frostgaze’s direction, holding his breath as Frostgaze officially declared his apprenticeship. He held his head high with pride, the word ‘Honeypaw’ ringing in his head over and over in a clear, loud echo that sent shivers down his spine. His eyes found Iceheart as she was declared his mentor, and a fresh wave of excitement hit him, shown only in the twitching of his tail.
Honeykit, now Honeypaw, walked over to Iceheart as calmly as he could manage. Each step felt like a step forward into his future. His eyes shined bright as he looked up at Iceheart, stretching a bit to touch his nose to hers gently. Honeypaw gave her a big grin as they separated, heart still pounding in his chest.
Her? A mentor? No, no, surely this was a mistake. Iceheart could not honestly be given responsibility for an apprentice. She was going to ruin everything. He was going to get ruined! Her gaze moved from Frostgaze to her new apprentice. He was full of excitement. He was eager. He was so warm and full of life.
Oh StarClan, she was going to ruin him.
Iceheart couldn’t muster up a word as Honeypaw stretched up towards her. She released a slow breath and bent down to touch her nose to his. The anxiety spiked in her chest, but she silently vowed that she would do everything in her power to not the be his downfall.
