Maplepaw's Starclan Dream

It had been a while since an apprentice was ready to undertake their "moonstone journey". Fawnsong didn't complain too much about that. After all, making apprentices dream because of the vain hope of them getting any sign of Starclan didn't make much sense when their ancestors didn't even talk to him. The ginger tom waited in the darkness of his cave for Maplepaw, Mistysky's last apprentice. Though the tom was mainly hopeless and didn't expect any sign of communication... a small spark of hope remained in him. Maybe... Mistysky will speak with her apprentice.

Her sorrow spirit had seemed to continue since her mentor passed away. It was a rather rough time for the young molly, and she had opted to decline gaining a new mentor. She had never known the time when apprentices truly took a trip to the moonstone, and so she heard that she would join the young medicine cat in his den in order to attempt to dream with their ancestors. It was a rite of passage every apprentice held before becoming a warrior.

Shaking the negativity out of her mind, she at least attempted to put the usual hop to her step as she poked her head in. "Hi, Fawnsong." She chirped quietly. Settling down in whatever way she was instructed, the young she-cat curled up. Part of her hoped to see her mentor. Part of her didn't.

The weariness of the night quickly crept up to her, and her green gaze faded shut as a response. Truth be told, the apprentice was greeted with nothing - just the typical emptiness of her sleep. It felt somewhat chilling, unfamiliar than the usual darkness of dreams she was presented with, but there wasn't any way for her to put her paw on what was up. It wasn't long before she stirred again, feeling much more like she had taken a nap than anything.

"That was a nice nap... If I was supposed to see anyone though... I didn't." She commented.

Fawnsong acknowledged the apprentice's arrival with a quiet nod. He guided the apprentice to her moss bed and mewed. "Eat these and close your eyes. You will be asleep in no time." Once Maplepaw was settled and ready, the older cat laid down on his own moss bed and watched over the apprentice while tiredness took over her. Fawnsong as well put his head on his paws and closed his eyes. It would take her a while to wake up...

The ginger tabby was already fully awake when the she-cat opened her eyes. From the scarred tissue on his face, his amber eyes scanned the she-cat's expression for any indication of what she dreamt about. However, the lack of enthusiasm soon proved to him that the worst-case scenario happened. Frustrated, the grumpy medicine cat lashed his tail and stood up. "Then we are done here. You can go back to your den and inform the deputy that you're ready to become a warrior." As the she-cat left his den, Fawnsong let out a sigh of exhaustion. He looked up to the roof of his den and thought... Why don't you talk to us...?
