Dewpaw's StarClan Dream

When Dewpaw closed her eyes, she was greeted by an ethereal landscape that slowly but surely faded into view, an astonishing and quite breath-taking sight to see. Bundles of reeds were dotted around the circular expanse of a starlit pool, its shiny depths seemingly endless, reflecting the beautiful land surrounding the she-cat. It was a very welcome and needed break from the occupation that The Asylum posed- though Dewpaw had been born during the dark times that had befallen the Clans, it was still difficult. Here, she'd receive the wisdom and knowledge of a StarClanner to guide her through whatever troubles she had coming.

Dewpaw's eyes opened, and she was startled to find herself surrounded by a breathtakingly beautiful scene. A starry pool lay before her, not a single ripple disturbing it's surface. As she peered into it, she saw her face reflected alongside multitudes of stars, and blinked in awe. Where had she gone? This place was certainly dazzling. As she looked around, she realized that she was alone, a state of existence she had not yet experienced. There was always some cat around the apprentice, her mother or father, her mentor, the Asylum cats, but there was no one. Her ears turned back as she took in this new, strange feeling of loneliness, before finally a figure stepped forward. Instantly the fear and nerves left the young she-cat, and she bounded forward, grateful to who her unnamed savior was, ignoring that she had no idea who or what this was. "Hi! Oh stars, hello, I'm so glad to see you! I was getting nervous, all alone, I've never been alone before. I'm Dewpaw! What's your name?" The young she-cat purred, looking up at the figure with wide eyes and a smile.

Applefang felt bad for what was happening, but he and his peers had no way to stop it. At least, that’s all that he knew. He wasn’t one of the special, mystical cats of Starclan that legends were told about, just a regular warrior who had died. He wished there was something, anything he could do to stop all of the suffering and pain that was happening. If he had been living he would have done something, but all he could really do was watch from afar.

Still, they found a way to speak to the clans again, and he was glad for that. Moonstone journeys were essential, and even if they couldn’t take place at the moonstone, they still meant the same. As he emerged from a starry mist, smiling at the apprentice. She immediately started to speak, and he relaxed a little bit. "I’m Applefang. It’s nice to meet you!" he said. The apprentice was a Riverclanner, just like he had been. "So, uh, is there anything you want to know?" He shuffled his paws awkwardly. He really didn’t know what to say in these kinds of situations.

The tom introduced himself as Applefang, and Dewpaw's eyes widened slightly. "Applefang is an awesome name! I hope my warrior name is as cool as yours!" The apprentice exclaimed with a wide grin before blinking at his question. She pondered for a minute, she had heard the older cats ask a lot of questions to each other, why the Asylum cats were there, when they would be gone, what they would do, how long leaf-bare would last... All things that she had deemed important to them, perhaps, but not so much to her. "Everyone is so worried and sad recently. How can I make them smile?"

Applefang smiled. "Ivystar does a good job picking out names. I’m sure your’s will be awesome!" He titled his head slightly to the side. "It seems the forest is always in this kind of danger. Before you were born, there was the Righteous Few, evil cats that wanted to rid the clans of ‘impure blood.’ You’ve probably heard some stories. I understand what you’re feeling. You just have to try to continue like normal, I guess. It’s hard right now, but it will get better." He hadn’t meant to lie, but what kind of cat would tell an apprentice that everything would never be the same. He had faith in the clans. They’d been through a lot, and he hoped they would pull through. If he had been alive, he might have even prayed to Starclan, but that wouldn’t be the same now. Praying to himself wasn’t right. "Focus on the little things, like talking with your clanmates or hunting patrols. Try to ignore the Asylum best as you can." he offered.

Dewpaw listened intently, nodding at his mention of the Righteous Few. She had certainly heard stories of them, the odd StarClan cats that descended upon the clans. It had been recent, so though she hadn't experienced it herself, she truly believed it happened. He advised her to focus on the small things, and Dewpaw excitedly agreed, tail flicking back and forth as she already started to think about what she could do. "I can do that! That's not too hard." She mewed, never doubting that it would be a grand success. "Thank you, Applefang! I hope to see you again sometime!" She purred, darting forward to bump her head to his shoulder before stepping back and blinking several times in rapid succession. When she opened them the final time, her eyes landed on Applefang and her head tilted, confusion apparent in her expression. "Um... How do I wake up?" She asked.
