Swanmist's Name Change Ceremony

He'd almost forgotten but the idea had never left the back of his mind, even in the midst of the many other things happening. But there was another ceremony to be had. Leaping onto the highrock, Stoatstar called the clan together, "Gather for a clan meeting." The leader's voice was tired, exhausted and yet he carried on anyways. Eyes raked the clearing, seeking out the familiar, white pelt.

Swanmist exited her den again. It had been a few days since she originally asked to change her name, and she had been waiting for a ceremony to be held. The last ceremony hadn't been hers, unfortunately, but she was certain, as her leader called the clan together, that she would finally get her new name.

Maybe then... Thunderclan could accept her more.

Mottlerose left the warriors den, unsure of really what would be going on. Ceremonies came and went, and usually she'd been able to garner a whisper or two from other cats whose it would be. It seemed this time around, that wasn't the case, and she took her usual place beneath the Highrock.

As soon as he saw the she-cat, the ceremony began, "Swanmist, come forward. You have said it is your wish to leave the past behind, abandon your Riverclan name, and truly join the ranks of Thunderclan. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and serve your clan, even at the cost of your life?" The words were unconventional, as was the ceremony and circumstance. But Stoatstar had never kept the same ceremonial verbiage. Like usual, he studied the she-cat's gaze. As he spoke, his tail gestured ever so slightly, emphasizing the few communicators he had picked up from her and her kits. He wanted to make this clear, to be on the same level as the she-cat - there would be no going back. Thunderclan was her home. She would be one of them, now, and forever more.

Swanmist kept her gaze on Stoatstar, ears perked, listening to every word that came out of the tom's mouth. She held her tail off the ground, this ceremony was important to her, she was to accept any name her leader would give her, and she wouldn't be Swanmist for much longer.

After little hesitation, she stepped forwards, taking note of the little tail flick. She looked behind her, looking for her kits, hoping they'd support this change. She breathed slowly, and with a smile, she nodded.

I do.

Alright, this was it then - she vowed herself to the clan. His eyes burned into her pelt but he nodded in affirmation, acceptance. After a brief pause, Stoatstar's voice rose up once again, "From now on, you will be known as Clouddream. Thunderclan welcomes you as a full warrior. Tonight, you will sit vigil as the clan sleeps." He wondered if cats would cheer, knowing some of the clan had accepted her, although not all had. Flicking his ear, the tom briefly lifted his maw to yowl her name a few times before leaping down from the great rock.

Mottlerose looked towards the other warrior with interest as she received her new name. She would be the first to raise her voice with her Clanmates as was tradition. "Clouddream! Clouddream!" It was a name that fit the other molly, one truly fitting of a Thunderclan warrior.

Swanmist hoped that Stoatstar would pick a fitting name for herself.

And he did.

She wasn't traitorous evil Riverclan cat Swanmist anymore, she was Clouddream.

She was happy. Clouddream was happy.

The silky-furred warrior turned to face her clan as they called her new name.

... And she couldn't hold back a smile and a purr.

Seated just behind her mother, Flurrypaw watched the awaited ceremony take place. This would sort of be a new beginning for Swanmist and she was happy for her. When Stoatstar's bedraggled voice announced the selected new name, she beamed. Clouddream. That's lovely! The apprentice was hesitant to join in with the cheering for she knew Clouddream's ears were very sensitive. Moving forward, she pressed her pelt against the white warrior's own for a brief moment, whispering her congratulations into her ear. "I'm so happy for you Clouddream..."
