Slightpaw's Warrior Ceremony

"All cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Bloodstar bellowed out just before he kicked snow off of his branch. He sat down and watched the clan gather, waiting in particular for Slightpaw. That and... trying not to let his teeth chatter. This leafbare could not end fast enough.

Slightpaw padded into the clearing. the last time such a ceremony happened was not too long ago, but he had no interest in anything that didn't affect him. he settled down near the edge of the crowd, glancing back to check that all his feathers where in place.

Slightpaw eventually sat beneath the Tallbranch and Bloodstar noticed he suspected nothing. Good. He always liked to see the light behind an apprentice's eyes when they realized this was their ceremony. "Skyclan will earn another warrior today. Slightpaw, come forward. I, Bloodstar, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Slightpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Everyone knew the answer to this already. He only had two apprentices say no or one thought they were smart by just saying yep. Still, Bloodstar would be patient and wait to hear the words come out of Slightpaw's mouth himself.

Slightpaw blinked in surprise at Bloodstar's words. he was going to be a warrior? about time! the white tom got to his paws and looked up at the leader with narrowed blue eyes. "I do." he said simply. but did he mean it?

Good, the appropriate words were there. Onward. "Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your warrior name, Slightfrost. Skyclan honors your strength and persistence." And with that, that would be the conclusion of this ceremony. Hearing the clan chant the new warrior's name, Bloodstar dropped down from the branch and rested his head on Slightfrost's head. "Congratulations Slightfrost."

Slightfrost. that was a nice name. much better than Hailfall, the tom thought. he licked the leader's shoulder is respect before turning to greet the rest of his clanmates. Now he had something to show off to Batpaw!
