Here Comes the Horde (closed for all applestoat kits)

Reedpaw shrugged and berried the adder in the ground for later. once again he looked around for prey. he noticed that the blackbird had just simply moved to another branch; he still had a shot. he scrambled clumsily up the tree and perched on a higher branch. however, the sun cast his shadow over the bird and it took off in panic. the tom groaned and slid down the tree.

Reedpaw huffed and scurried off in search of other prey. suddenly, he catches sight of a moving creature behind a tree. he drops into a crouch and slowly stalk up to the prey. surprise surprise! it was another snake! reedpaw groaned as he landed and killed the brown creature off. disappointed, he hurried back to Appledapple and Softpaw with the two limp adders hanging from his jaws. "Nice catch. at least you got actual prey." he commented on his brother's robin.

A small smirk appeared on Cinderpaw's muzzle because of her mother's response. To most cats, Appledapple's statements about being "the best hunter" would seem pretentious and arrogant but not to the young apprentice. In her eyes, it just showed how proud and confident the warrior was about her own abilities. After all, if it weren't for Stoatstar's bias, Appledapple would have definitely been the next deputy.  

Her tail twitched in excitement at the thought of a predator showing up. How cool would it be to fight as a family. I could even get some cool scars to show off! Her daydreaming was suddenly stopped when the warrior started explaining the rules. The she-cat kept her hazel eye's fixed on the calico molly, processing all her words. If I want to show Appledapple I'm the best just like her, I gotta focus...

Once she was over, unexpectedly, Cinderpaw walked a few steps away and waited. She was impatient to start hunting but... she first wanted how her siblings did. If they went to a certain part of the forest and returned with little prey, then the she-cat would know where not to go. Softpaw was the first to arrive with a small bird on his jaws. The tom seemed a little upset but nonetheless, he caught prey. The next one was Reedpaw, who didn't much better either. Time to try my luck...

The competitive she-cat walked away from where her brother hunted and entered the woods. At first, she just walked silently without a clear path until her nose caught an interesting smell. Lowering her body a bit, the apprentice followed the scent, finding a squirrel who just climbed down from an oak tree. Cinderpaw found a nearby bush to hide and prepare her strike. She leapt towards the animal but excitement got the worst of her. A small his escaped from her mouth, giving away her presence. As quick as it climbed down, the squirrel quickly returned to the safety of the tree when Cinderpaw landed on the ground.

Cinderpaw attempted to hunt, spending 7 stamina. The catch was unsuccesful.

The brown-grey she-cat was angry but she took a deep breath and exhaled in an attempt to calm her nerves. Getting angry would only slow her down and make her fail yet again.

Cinderpaw walked away from the squirrel of the tree and after a few minutes, she was lucky enough to find a dove drinking from a puddle created from melting snow. This time, the apprentice didn't hide but instead approached the bird from behind, keeping her body low but not enough for her belly to touch the snow. When she was close enough to reach the animal with a jump, she bent her hind legs and jumped with her claws unsheathed. Thanks to the wind running in her favour, the dove was unable to smell the apprentice. It only noticed when her fangs were already clamping around its neck. Swiftly, the she-cat killed the dove cleanly by breaking the neck. A purr emerged from her throat, happy for her successful catch.

After hiding the dove under a pile of snow to go back for it later, Cinderpaw unsheathed and sheathed her claws on the snow, preparing herself for her final hunting attempt. If she managed to catch one more piece of prey, she would be on top of Reedpaw and Softpaw. She highly doubted Shimmerpaw and Heronpaw would get more than two with how little prey there was.

She once again caught the scent of a squirrel. This time, it seemed the animal's den was right under a tree instead of the top since the she-cat saw the small animal leave the safety of the tree's roots in search of water. This is gonna be even harder than the first one... She thought. Slowly but steady, the apprentice approached her objective. She tried to position herself between the squirrel and the tree so she could stop any attempt of hiding. Time was running out and the squirrel was finishing taking the last sips of water. Now or never.... Cinderpaw leapt towards the squirrel and her paws managed to catch the animal's fluffy tail. However, she miscalculated. Her reflexes weren't as sharp as the prey's and the squirrel squirmed its way out from the apprentice's grasp by quickly turning its body. The molly tried to chase the squirrel but it was too late. The small, reddish animal was already hiding in the safety of its home, unreachable for Cinderpaw's paws.

Rainpaw Sat in the Background of all of the Catching Prey, They were Watching their Siblings Catch Prey, It looked fun! But they didn't want to do it just yet. So they Sat by their adopted Mother, Appledapple, They had their Tail around their Paws neatly as they Looked around the Selected Spot for Hunting.

Reedpaw smiled and dipped his head to Rainpaw. Rainpaw and Softpaw by far was his favourite siblings. hard to not have favorites when you have nine or so, right? "want me to teach you how to climb trees?" he offered Rainpaw. they had time to kill anyway.

ooc: this takes place before the hunting topic but it's funny because rainpaw climbed a tree in their topic, wouldn't blame you if you're thinking of origins for that

Rainpaw looked at Reedpaw "Oh!- Sure!" Rainpaw said, Getting up. "Which Tree should we climb?" Rainpaw questioned, There were many trees, obviously, But one with some Bumpy Bark might be good, Like a PINE- (that's pinepaw's color bolded lol) Spruce or something Coniferous, Those tend to be Bumpy, Yeah? Better grapple.

"That one!" Reedpaw pointed to a tall and sturdy oak. he leaped forward and looked up at the branches overhead. he dug his claws into the bark and hauled himself up, shifting to adjust his weight and placing paw after paw, slowly edging up. he came to the lowest branch, tested his weight, then settled to catch his breath on the branch.

huffing, the apprentice reached up and hauled himself up onto another branch, and another. soon, he was among the highest branches. Reedpaw pressed himself to the base of the branch where it met the trunk of the oak. he felt the branch sway under his paws from the biting cold wind.

"Come up here! Its really refreshing!" he called to his littermates.

Rainpaw rolled their eyes at Reedpaw "That looks Easy, how about I..." Rainpaw said, Trailing off as they Ran towards the Oak, Leaping onto it's bark with their claws unsheathed, And climbed up to Reedpaw, before making it to a branch just below, As to make sure it wasn't too Crowded for Reed "Aha!.. ugghhh that was tiring... I can still come down if I need to." Rainpaw said, Trying to outdo Reedpaw was really tiring. They decided to relax a bit. It was nice being up high, (HOWEVER UNLIKE DURING THE HUNTING SESSION THAT HASN'T HAPPENED YET IN THIS POST'S PRESENT) They weren't thinking of Battle plans or Fighting tactics using their new skill.. They were just tired, Nothing else.
