Kits of the Dark Sun (closed)

Still being at that young age of not being able to really eat much more than his mother's milk, it made the rabbits and other prey that sat on the pile just that much more enticing. So, what did the little grey tom do? Sneaked his way out of the nursery, right under his mother's nose.

Strutting out of the nursery and not daring to look back to see if anyone was following him, Rockkit made his way over to what he was told was the freshkill pile. As he got closer, the warm, sweet scents overwhelmed the kit and he couldn't wait to try a bite of what ever he could grab. Well, that was, if no one tried to stop him...

Thistlekit bounded past Rockkit, his eyes narrowed as he rushed past invisible enemies. Although his legs were short and his paws were large, through sheer determination the fluffy kit managed to stay on his feet. The small tabby tom-kit chased a distracting butterfly for a few moments until it went too high to jump after (curse his small legs!) before trotting in a dignified manner towards Rockkit once more, his fuzzy tabby fur sticking up and making him look rather ridiculous.

Mothkit awoke curled up comfortably at her mother fluffy belly to see her denmate sneaking out of the nursery. A mischevious light entered her eyes, and she carefully extracted herself from her mother and followed the tom out towards the fresh-kill pile. She was sure she hadn't been detected yet, and an impish grin covered her face. She was about half a tail length from him now, and she wigged her haunches as she readied herself to pounce on him. Quickly, she pushed off with her hind legs and barreled into the kit with a yowl of triumph. "I got you! I got you!" She squealed with laughter as she pinned the tom to the ground. "I'm the strongest warrior in all the clans!" She exclaimed with a victorious grin.

Darkkit looked out of the nursery with a brow raised. He was amused at how ridiculous these kits looked. He strode past them with his nose in the air. Soon, the large tom-kit made it to the fresh-kill pile before any of the others. He grabbed a nice bird and began to drag in back, not caring if a few tails were stepped on. He just wanted to enjoy this treat by himself. Although, he was prepared for the kits to come after him.

Leafkit gave a huge yawn, stretching out his body and rolling around in his mossy nest. He climbed to his paws and shook out his fluffy fur, making him look twice as big as he actually was. Leafkit stomped out of the nursery, anger clearly etched in his face. The other kits had woken him up! ”Hey! You guys woke me up! Prepare to feel the wrath of Leafstar!” The tom squeaked, trying to look intimidating. He glared pointedly at Mothkit.

Not having heard the other pawsteps behind him because his sights were set on a plump bird resting on the edge of the pile, Rockkit let out a yowl of surprise when something tumbled into him and sent him flying to the ground. Letting out a huff and regaining his bearings, the young tom looked up to see Mothkit standing on top of him, her small, sharp claws digging into his sides. "In your dreams!" he hissed back playfully, struggling to push himself up with her weight pinned on him.

This time catching the sound of other pawsteps approaching, Rockkit watched in silence as Darkkit took a bird from the freshkill pile. 'No! I wanted that bird!' His thoughts screeched and as if StarClan gave him the strength of all the clans combined, his pushed the she-cat off and jumped up onto his feet. "Hey! That's my bird!" The fluffy grey and white kit mewed and sprinted as fast as he could past Leafkit and towards Darkkit. Skidding to a halt, he clamped his small jaws down onto the limp bird and locked eyes with the fellow kit, as if to challenge him for the piece of prey that neither of them could probably even eat yet.

"Don't worry, Mothkit!" Thistlekit leaped clumsily on top of Rockkit, his fluffy fur ruffled. "I'll defend your honor!" Mothkit was smaller, and smaller meant weaker. Thistlekit knew that she needed to be defended from harm.
Plus, she was nice to look at. Her fur was soft and she smelled nice. Thistlekit liked spending time with her.
Although Thistlekit didn't yet know the meaning of jealousy, he knew that he didn't want Mothkit to spend too much time with the others. They could hurt her, after all!
With a small growl, the young tom swatted lightly at Rockkit and hissed warningly. Still, he couldn't resist having a little fun. The tom-kit sprang away again, tail twitching. "Good luck facing Thistlestar and his loyal deputy Mothstar!" He mewed, arching his back and fluffing his fur to make him look larger (albeit a bit messier).

Mothkit giggled as Rockkit toppled her over and got to his paws and hissed playful words at her. Now, though, it seemed like all of her denmates were out of the nursery now. Rockkit went over to claim a bird that Darkkit had grabbed, and she gave Leafkit a mischevious grin in return for his glare. "Oh be quiet, you dormouse! You can't sleep all day!" She exclaimed in good-natured exasperation.

Then Thistlekit was on top of Rockkit, something about defending her honor or whatever, and yowled something about them being leader and deputy. Mothkit growled playfully before shoving Thistlekit gently. "Hey, I wanna be the leader! You can be the deputy." She meowed insistently, her grin still plastered onto her pale brown face. "And you guys can be our warriors! Well Darkkit, you can be our elder since you're grumpy and don't ever wanna play." She declared, giggling with uncontrollable laughter.
