A God in Training [C]

Ares had ventured out from the nest once again, this time wanting to test his skills. To be a successful prowler, one must be quiet, quick, stealthy, yet also skilled and manipulative. Ares was more suited for raw combat, but he was a prowler, therefore, he must get better at these skills. So the snow crunched beneath his heavy footfalls as he padded along the Windclan border, jumping over with a flick of his tail. He would hunt here, and if he got caught, who cared? He'd just try to convert him to their cause... uh, subtly. Or he'd just fight, that was always good.

Eventually, he spotted a rabbit, fur having changed from brown to white some time ago. Ares readied himself, then just... went. He sprinted toward the creature, and he wasn't afraid of some clanner catching him. Why would he be? Windclan looked weak, cats who had running as a talent? That was a bit pathetic. He certainly wasn't fast enough for this though, and instead he skidded to a stop when there was a hint of orange up ahead. Fox. Probably hunting the same thing he was. Well too bad for the fox, it had just become the hunted! He'd bring this back to camp, and put their hunters to shame! Also, he'd get to say he was strong and sneaky enough not to get caught.

He changed his motion toward the unsuspecting fox, and it let out a surprised whine as he barreled toward it, becoming a blur of ginger and black as he leaped onto its back, clamping his mouth down on its neck. Maybe he'd just break its spine, that'd help a lot. It'd be a nicer pelt that way.

Ares used Leap and Hold, dealing 8 damage and using 15 stamina. The Fox is pinned for 2 turns.

Batpaw was out hunting alone. She was alone because she couldnt stand being around others right now. The loss of both her parents was too miserable to stand talking or even be around anyone and she wanted to be alone ... to think.  She missed her catch as the sound of fighting scared the prey away.  Quickly she ran towards the angry sounds.  She saw a cat and fox locked in combat... she did not recognize the cat but that didnt matter did it? Predators were a common enemy for all clans so whichever clan this cat belonged to she felt obligated to help.

Im coming! she meowed ... hmm wow 2 words that was a record for her for the past several days.

without thinking about danger she jumped at the fox hitting it as hard as she could.  She wanted to help this cat whoever they were.

OOC: yes I realize Ares is not a clan cat but Batpaw just kinda (incorrectly ) assumes that all cats are clan cats

Muddyleap was padding through the territory, head held high as he took in a deep breath - enjoying the fresh air. It had been hard, getting back to...Well, it wasn't normal - things would never be normal again after the loss of his sister - but a...New normal, he supposed. There was still an ache in his heart that would never be filled - the only real idea of what pain actually felt like for the brown and tan warrior. He gave a shake of his head, sparing a glance around - he had come out for a walk but it wouldn't hurt to hunt or...Something. He had to be a use to the Clan again.

As he scanned the horizon, his eyes caught a glimpse of movement that caused him to frown. Orange - with a glimpse of brown and black. His brow furrowed as he started to pad forward, before quickly breaking into a sprint as he realized what he had spotted. A cat fighting a fox. While he was crossing in great speed, he nearly stumbled to a shocked stop as he spotted Batpaw jump in out of nowhere. Well...All the more reason to join - he wasn't going to let an apprentice join this fight without proper help.

With an extra burst of speed, he threw himself into the fox's side, claws raking across the orange pelt before he drew back and glanced up at the cat that was perched on the beast's back. He...Didn't recognize him and he could only tilt his head in confusion. Was this another Clan cat? A rogue? Loner? Batpaw hadn't hesitated in joining in but was it because she knew him or just wanted to help out? "...You aren't a WindClan cat," was all that he could manage - a hot flash of shame searing through him... He spared an awkward glance at Batpaw, hoping that she would give him an answer, even if it would only raise questions of why he couldn't figure it out for himself.

Daisypaw snuck out of camp, looking for some practice before her hunting assessment which she heard would be soon. The golden she-cat was shaping up to be a pretty fine fighter, well-refined skills worn into her muscles. A brisk trot led her near the border of WindClan territory, a place she was not as familiar with compared to the others. A hare or two would provide a good enough warm-up... she decided, parting her jaws to take in the leaf-bare scents. A rabbit. With an outburst of hops, it dashed away.

Strange... I didn't even move!

Wary, the she-cat glanced around. Something- or someone, was here. The cry of a fox made her fur bristle in alarm. Paws pounded on the ground; she ran towards the noise. Snow kicked out behind her and she skidded to a stop, a few foxtails away from the scene. A dark-colored tom had latched onto the orange creature's back, the fox struggling to get him off. An outsider... Batpaw? And... Muddy- something? Daisypaw wasted no time thinking. WindClan cats were fighting and she'd help them.

Aiming for the fox's long muzzle, she lunged, joining in the action. The blow landed, and satisfaction burned within when it drew blood.

Daisypaw used Front Paw Strike costing -7sp and dealing 6 damage.

Of course an entire Windclan patrol would suddenly come out of the woodwork to ruin his day. Ares couldn't do much about that though, he was still latched onto the fox like a tick. When he was finally able to unlatch his mouth, he yowled down to the tom that had questioned him. "No, I am not, but if you wouldn't mind, try helping me knock it over, or just damage the legs! The less damage to this pelt the better." Blood covered his mouth and chest as he relatched on, crunching down harder on the fox's neck. It would die.

Ares continued using Leap-and-Hold, dealing 8 damage and using 15 stamina! The fox is stunned for 1 turn!

The fox finally threw off the cat assaulting it, it was free!

The fox is now free from being pinned!

Batpaw grinned as her friend daisypaw joined in the fight ... and muddyleap too? this fox did not stand a chance now.  Muddyleap gave her a glance of if she knew this 4th cat. she simply shrugged having absolutly no idea...

but any cat who could hold their own against a fox was impressive to say the least, and those eyes... chilling ... who was this cat was indeed a good question.

Batpaw didn't really hear Ares through all the commotion and saw an opening... it was a risky opening but since when did that stop her?  

Grinning she ran towards the fox and flipped over onto her back and pushed off the ground with her hind legs to position herself into a slide to attempt and deal maximum damage to the creature.

it worked perfectly as she stopped the skid directly underneath her foe and lashed violently upwards at it claws ripping and tearing its soft belly apart.

Muddyleap winced as another cat came swooping in, another apprentice. The tom confirmed that he wasn't a WindClan cat - okay, so that didn't help when that was what Muddyleap already knew but that was what he got for only managing out that question. He blinked a little at the tom's request to leave the pelt in one piece, something bothering him about that but he barely had time to think when the stranger was thrown off and Batpaw ducked beneath the fox. His tail puffed out in worry that the apprentice was about to get hurt and without thinking, launched himself at the fox's throat before it could turn its attention onto the she-cat. Teeth met the fox's throat as he latched on with everything that he had - pulling it to the ground before he blinked and realized that he...Might have just killed it.

Huh.

In a quick frenzy, the fox was dead. Its body sagged onto the ground, collapsing beneath the weight of all the cats. "Who are you??" the golden she-cat asked skeptically, gaze fixed on the dark-furred stranger. "This is Windclan territory, what are you doing here? And why in the world would you care about damaging a flea-bitten fox pelt?" she interrogated, a fierce questioning tone of voice.

Batpaw watched as the fox slumped to the ground as Muddyleap dealt the final blow.

She spun facing the outsider, Daisypaw had already asked an interigation of questions at him...Batpaw was a little more quite

she looked at him with wide admiring eyes... Wow! yo--yo...you are so br-br..brave! she squeeled stuttering over herself as per the usual.

Words did not come easy to Batpaw and she had a stutter since kithood and never was able to grow out of it.

You really have no fe-ff-f... fea--... fear she continued.

she cursed herself for having such trouble with that word... ugh come on Batpaw get it together, she scolded herself.

Your mentor m-m-must be really pr-proud of you and taught you well huh? Based on his age she guessed he was a young warrior a bit older than herself.

she shook her head slightly... umm but what was he doing here anyways??
