Grin and Bear It

Apollo was dead. The thought haunted the she-cat's pawsteps as she walked, tracing her way through the snow absently. Her family had gone to a place called ShadowClan to avenge his murder at their claws, and Anastasia had longed to go with them. Her orders were to remain near camp though, to hunt and prepare for their return. Return they had, although they were battered and wounded, they were all standing, each of them returning. Once they had settled, and she had carefully chosen prey for each of them as the rested, she had set out once more. They would surely be hungry when they woke, so if she got started now then she should be able to be back before they woke. She found herself in a large open field, and she crouched low as she scented something nearby.

'Invasion Dice' :

The familiar scent of a shrew filled her nose, and she slowly stalked towards it. It must have buried itself in the snow.. As she drew closer, she braced herself for a pounce, eyes falling on the slightly impacted area of snow that revealed it's hiding place. Taking a breath and holding it, she pounced, paws landing on the spot as snow erupted around her paws. Her claws found the soft, warm body of the rodent, and a swift bite killed it before it could make a sound. Standing straight, she looked around the area with her catch dangling from her jaws. Hopefully her luck would continue.

Aether had been allowed to go... Why hadn't she? He was a hunter too, why had she been ordered to stay behind while he got to go? Was she not good enough? Did Tarot and her father think he was better? The thought sat heavy in her belly as she carefully buried her catch before continuing in search of her next target. Her mind swam with thoughts as she walked aimlessly, meandering through this unknown, windswept territory. She kept low to the ground, letting her pelt camouflage her movements as she moved along, before movement caught her eyes. Stopping midstep, she slowly turned towards it, waiting to see if it was just the wind. A flash of color was spotted again, and she wasted no time in creeping towards it, keeping the wind blowing towards her. As she neared it however, the splash of color raised its head, looking at something in the other direction. Still she froze, waiting to see what the bird was doing, but with a flurry of feathers and a squawk it lifted into the air, disappearing quickly. She darted forward, hoping to get to it, but her claws just missed it's tail. As she landed in the snow, angry at her ruined catch, she felt sharp teeth latch onto her tail. With a shriek, she whipped around to see a strange creature grasping onto it.

She lashed out at the creature holding tightly onto her tail, hissing as it's teeth dug deeper. It was going to bite it clean off! "Get off you filthy creature, let go!" She growled, lashing out at it's eyes.

Anastasia used Dirty Trick, dealing 6 damage and costing 7 SP, and paired it with Snap, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 SP.
Weasel continued Gripping Bite on Anastasia, dealing 7 damage and costing 15 SP.

The weasel did finally let go, and Anastasia pulled her tail close to her as the strange beast started to do some weird movements. She kept losing track of it as it bobbed and weaved in the snow, and try as she may she could not seem to land a blow on it.

The weasel latched back on to her tail, and she let out another yelp as she lashed out at the beast again. As her paw made contact, she breathed a sigh of relief as it went limp. She had done it! She could fight, Tarot and Klaus just hadn't seen her in action. Would they ever give her the chance, though? She stared at the unmoving creature for several heartbeats, trying to ignore the dejection rising in her throat. If they didn't... Then there was nothing she could do, she supposed. This beast was quite large, perhaps it could be eaten? It was worth a shot, and if so this would feed quite a few of them at once. Picking up the weasel, she dragged it back to the shrew she had caught earlier before making her way home, a forced grin plastered onto her face as she brought her catches to her family.
