Flurrykit's Apprentice Ceremony

The amount of these she had done recently was beginning to tire Perchfall, if deputies were allowed to be tired of apprenticing kits who would strengthen the Clan. Of course, such a notion was absurd. Still, there was a slight distance to her light blue gaze as she stared down at the center of camp from her perch. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather beneath the Willow Branch for a Clan meeting," she called out, her voice the same even volume as ever.

A white kit, pelt rather matted despite being groomed not too long ago, awaiting her turn. Flurrykit was trying her best to patiently wait till her time was to come. Pebblepaw and Mintpaw had just been apprenticed and she was the last of the litter. She was proud of them for sure, but she wouldn't be able to bear it if her apprentice ceremony were to be postponed for whatever reason. At the familiar call, she lifted her eyes yet again towards Willow Branch. Is it my turn?

Once her eyes caught sight of the next kit, Perchfall continued the ceremony. The sooner all of Swanmist's kits were out of the nursery, the better-- for them, for the Clan, and for Swanmist hopefully. "Flurrykit. You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Flurrypaw. Your mentor will be Bearspirit. I trust he will pass all he knows onto you." There were so many apprentices that she would have to start overloading the senior warriors. She couldn't take every extra apprentice herself. Ending the ceremony with a nod, she left the apprentice and mentor to greet each other.

Straining her ears, the she-kit listened for her name in the words coming from Perchfall's maw. Yes! My turn! The excited kit calmed herself down before padding forward to greet her mentor. She was a full apprentice of RiverClan now. Pride bubbled within her as she reached up to touch noses with the warrior. She hadn't a clue about the bulky tom, but she already had high expectations. The newly named apprentice glanced around, searching for her family.

Swanmist had gathered again, this time, one kit by her side. Flurrykit. Flurrykit was still mostly clean, but Swanmist already felt tired by the time it was Flurrykit's turn that she didn't feel like cleaning her again. She nudged her kit forwards gently, happy that her kit was finally an apprentice.

But she felt deep down something was... wrong?
