Fight Night!

Swiftheart couldn't help but smile slightly as her brother won the fight. It was super close and Cicadashriek had fought super well. She gave a small smile to her brother congratulating him. She knew her fight was up next and she faced her opponent.

Ready Marshmallow? she asked in her usual friendly excited tone.

Marshmallow was an older warrior than her and more experienced she really did not expect to win this spar but that was what practice was for right? She crouched down low getting ready.

Given this she remembered back to training of taking the initiative and trying to catch opponents off guard she gave a final grin and leaped at her opponent for the sparring night.

Cicadashriek didn't see it coming, having been so sure in his victory then a blink later the black tom was upon him. He backed up, rearing up to try and defend himself only to tumble onto his back from the onslaught of blows. Every attempt to retaliate was quickly thwarted, only receiving a bat or a swat to the face in response before he realized he was becoming too battered to continue. "Gah! Alright! I yield, cut it out!"

The patchwork tom tried his best not to outwardly sulk as he accepted Nightstalker's paw and got back on his feet. That was... definitely his fault, he could see that. However, he made such a blunder in front of the most important cats in the clan! "Just wait and I'll even the score. Just gotta train a little harder." Acting upset in front of the leader and deputy wasn't going to make anything better, so he made a mental note to join a patrol later to take out his frustration on prey instead. He would get better. He had to get better.

Cicadashriek is K.O'ed! He yields!

Dappledpaw watched Frostgaze go to spar with Webshadow, and she looked around for Ratrunner. She hoped that her father was going to win in the fight. Ratrunner soon appeared and Dappledpaw meowed, "Hey Ratrunner. I'm ready." She flicked her tail and started to head toward a more secluded part of the clearing. Murkystar and Mistyfalcon had already started fighting. She also noticed her sister, Marshmallow, going over to Swiftheart, and wondered how she was going to fair in the fight. "Who's going to go first?" Dappledpaw asked Ratrunner, turning her attention to her own opponent.

Ratrunner followed Dappledpaw to a more suitable, empty part of the grove. And even though he wanted to look — to see how Nightstalker was faring — the tom tried to focus on his own spar. The small warrior took the space opposite her, and then paused at her question. “Would you mind going first?” he asked, and then sank into a fighting stance: muscles ready, legs bent and nimble. “I’ll try defending from you.”

It wasn’t something Ratrunner practiced as often, but it was just as important.

"Sure," Dappledpaw meowed before walking to her own side of the clearing. She dropped down into a crouch and quickly formulated a plan. He was stronger than her, so she would need to try to weaken him quickly. Dappledpaw bunched up her hind legs and prepared to pounce. Once she was in place, she surged forward and attempted to knock over Ratrunner with all of her weight.

Dappledpaw used Jumping Strike, dealing 10 (6 + 3 + 1) damage and costing 7 SP! Night Finesse grants +1 damage to attacks!

In spite of his firm stance, Ratrunner was bowled over — surprised at her strength. But he wasn’t a large cat by any means, and didn’t train that way, so immediately he twisted. With a firm grip — careful not to be too harsh — Ratrunner pulled her tail, throwing her off-balance.

Ratrunner used Tail Yank, dealing 8 damage (7+1 Night Finesse) and costing 15 stamina. Dappledpaw is stunned for 1 turn.

Dappledpaw felt Ratrunner give way under paws, and she felt a glimmer of satisfaction. Though it soon ended when she felt a sharp pain in her tail. She fell back and shook out her tail. Even if she hadn't realized it in the moment, this small break left her vulnerable for attack.
