Frostgaze was unsatisfied with 'okay' warriors and apprentices, he wanted them to be 'excellent' bordering on perfect. So he decided that Shadowclan needed to have a mass sparring event, like he had heard about Flintstar doing in the past. He lead the group of fighters to the Pine Grove, it was clear, and there was little frozen mud to cause any serious injury on. "Alright, we have arrived, listen for your partners. Murkystar, you will be fighting Mistyfalcon, good luck Mistyfalcon, you need it." He had come to the understanding that Mistyfalcon had been beaten before by Murkystar. Their battle would be interesting. "Nightstalker, you will be fighting Cicadashriek." Pitting both of Burningwing's former apprentices against each other would be enlightening. "Swiftheart, you will fight Marshmallow." Perhaps Swiftheart would put emphasis on Marshmallow's punishment when sparring, clearly, she needed some friendly sense knocked into her. "Ratrunner, you will fight Dappledpaw." Two apprentices, different mentors. It would be an interesting battle. "Finally, I will be fighting Webshadow. You may all begin when ready."
The deputy padded over to Webshadow, interested in what he would think of both of them fighting each other. He supposed he didn't really want to fight Webshadow, but was still interested in seeing who was more skilled out of the two of them. It was just... he enjoyed Webshadow's company, he didn't want to hurt him by accident. That wouldn't happen though, Frostgaze was sure of it. Well, as sure as one without Starclan's abilities of prophecy could be.
The prospect of sparring wasn't a bad idea, maybe doing so would get some warmth back into his limbs. Mistyfalcon had gathered with the rest of the warriors and apprentices, eyes narrowing as Frostgaze announced the matchups.
Murkystar. Again. Surprise, surprise, this was... What, four now? Or something, Mistyfalcon definitely wasn't keeping score or anything. Well, it was another chance at finally beating their esteemed leader, wasn't it? He needed to make up for his previous losses somehow, after all. Blue eyes turned to the tortoiseshell in question, a hint of a wry grin across his maw. "Ready, Murkystar?"
Murkystar sat close to Frostgaze as he announced the pairing. When he had approached her about doing this sort of event, she had readily agreed, looking forward to what would come of it. Mistyfalcon was also present, and she smiled at him as they waited. Her pairing was the first to be announced, and she blinked as he said her partner was Mistyfalcon. Her eyes softened and a grin formed on her face as she turned to look at her mate. So they were going head to head again... Would history repeat itself, or would Mistyfalcon emerge victorious for once? Their eyes met and she matched her grin to his. "Always, Mistyfalcon." She purred, crouching defensively as she waited for him to make the first move.
Swiftheart sat watching her parents getting ready to have an ultimate smackdown this would be really interesting. She giggled a little at Frostgaze's comment about Misty needing good luck.
Whhooooo Go Mom! Go Dad! she cheered them both on not picking favorites. She sat next to Nightstalker for the first fight watching. Her fight was much later in the night so she had time to enjoy the others that came before it. So that was kinda nice. However at the same time it meant more time to be nervous about her own fight. She wished to get it over with. Watching others spar was fun.... Sparring someone else... welll Swift was never much for a fighter if she could at all avoid it
Moms gonna absolutely destroy poor dad I bet she whispered into her brothers ear.
She looked up to Mistyfalcon sooooo much she never stopped talking about her father and mentor, he was her idol.... however the track record was pretty much in favor of Murkystar mopping the floor with him. Come on Dad! Get the first hit! she cheered giggling.

Tattered ears picked up on Swiftheart's quiet words, and Mistyfalcon's whiskers twitched in amusement. "Nobody has faith in me, I see how it is." He sounded more amused than actually offended, however. And with that, he sprang towards Murkystar, keeping his claws sheathed. Best not give her any more time than he already had, he wanted to win one of their spars for once.
Mistyfalcon used Jumping Strike for -7 sp, dealing -10+3 damage. Night Finesse active, +1 damage dealt.

Webshadow lingered quietly near the older warriors, ears pricked as Frostgaze settled in to announce his pairings to the group. Mistyfalcon and Murkystar– of course, they always sparred together; both of Burningwing's former apprentice's, that one would be interesting; newly-named Ratrunner against an apprentice (quietly, he hoped Ratrunner didn't lose that fight); and he would be going against Frostgaze. The tabby rose to his paws eagerly, padding to stand just a tail-length away from their deputy. "I'm glad you chose me," he purred, bowing his head respectfully. "Don't let me hurt you. I'm ready when you are." There was a cheeky clip to Webshadow's mew, and a grin spread over his features as he settled into a loose crouch, tail waving as he waited for Frostgaze to act.

Nightstalkers ears perked at the sound of his name. Cicadashriek was his sparring partner? He wondered if Cicadashriek would be able to put their current standing at a tie, instead of Nightstalkers pre-existing win, and Cicadashrieks loss. Nightstalker padded a little ways from the group, to give everyone ample room for their own individual spars. "Ready for round two? I'm quite ready to beat you again." the young tom goaded, a smirk on his face as he stood tall and strong with a quirked brow.

Ratrunner sat not far from Swiftheart, and smiled as he heard her cheer her parents on. The tom could feel his friend vibrate in anticipation.
I wonder what my mom would be like, in one of these spars, was his first thought. Dusktail was wiry, like Ratrunner, but in his life he had never seen his mother fight. Granted, his mother seemed… more like she’d murk her enemies in the back, rather than engage them like this. (So it would probably never happen.) He got lost in thought for a moment, before a movement to the side caught his attention.
Nightstalker had been beside his sister (as always), and Ratrunner realized it was him moving; the warrior was striding toward his own spar. He seemed to be walking fine, too; perfectly healed. Good.
The thought might’ve been a little too quick. But part of him saw Cicadashriek and felt a jolt of — something. It was silly to worry; Cicadashriek wouldn’t hurt Nightstalker. So why was he bothered? They were just going to fight; they did it before. But maybe I just wanted to spar with him instead.
The small warrior looked away, staring at his paws — surprised at his own thought. But then his eyes caught Frostgaze and Webshadow pairing off quietly, seemingly pleased to be facing each other. And he blinked.
Ah, I should find Dappledpaw, he thought, shaking his head. Ratrunner was happy to spar with one of the older apprentices. (As he had been one, up until recently!) And he liked Dappledpaw; she was a hard worker. Another one of the cats that, with Shadowclan blood or without, Ratrunner truly felt belonged here.
Scanning the small crowd, Ratrunner saw the dappled molly and approached. “Hi, Dappledpaw,” the small, newly-named warrior said, nodding in greeting. “Are you ready to spar?”
Murkystrike purred as she listened to her mate, watching him carefully. When he lunged forward, she sidestepped him neatly, swatting at his passing body with a sheathed paw. It landed firmly on his rump as he landed just whiskers behind her, with her turning to face him with a wide grin. "Nice try, but you won't get that one on me Misty." She purred, crouching defensively once more.
Murkystrike used Dodge and Fight, negating the damage from Jumping Strike and attempting a counter attack. Counter attack was successful, dealing 7 base (+1 Night Finesse, +2 Star Striker) damage and costing 7 SP.
Murkystar sidestepped, and her paw landed against his rear. Mistyfalcon spun to face her with a look of of 'really?', though he couldn't quite manage to stop his whiskers from twitching. He darted forward, moving past her and aiming to yank his opponent off-balance by the tail.
Mistyfalcon used Tail Yank for -15 sp, dealing -10 damage. Murkystar is stunned for one turn. Night Finesse active, +1 damage dealt.
Murkystar's whiskers twitched as well, mirroring her mate's. When he farted forward again, she prepared to side-step once more, but as his teeth gripper her tail and pulled her eyes widened and she gasped, stumbling. Her eyes narrowed playfully as she whipped around, pulling her long furred tail away from him.
Murkystar whisked her tail away from him, and Mistyfalcon followed her, playfully aiming to quickly jab her in the side with a forepaw while she was off-balance. He knew she wouldn't stay that way for long, and that meant he needed to capitalize on that quickly. He was aware of most of their other clanmates simply watching rather than participating in their own spars... He had to make up for those previous losses agaainst Murkystar while he had the audience or they'd never believe it.
Mistyfalcon used Front Paw Strike for -7 sp, dealing -10 damage. Night Finesse active, +1 damage dealt.
As Mistyfalcon jabbed at her side, Murkystar rolled into her back and slid forward until she was under him, pressing up with her hind legs to batter at his soft belly. She made sure not to kick too hard, but enough to give her the upper paw.
Murkystar used Belly Rake (Success!), dealing 20 base (+1 Night Finesse, +2 Star Striker) damage and costing 25 SP.
