Flowers Near the River (Closed)

Scarletriver liked sleeping in, making it aggravating to her when she realized that she indeed could not do that and instead needed to get right up to train an apprentice.  Raising to her paws, she sighed and walked out of the den.  The day was cloudy, with a slight threat of rain but it was not too bad.  The cold greatly annoyed her though with her short fur.  She strode towards the apprentice den.  Once she got there, she put on a pretty good happy and excited face.  "Petalpaw?" She called into the den.  "It's time to get up and go hunting!"

Scarletriver nodded, looking back at the apprentice that was following her.  "Of course we can start with fish," She responded.  The weather was getting colder, which annoyed her.  Her short fur was much more suited to Greenleaf than it was to Leaffall and the feeling of being slightly cold always was annoying.

When they got to the river, she stared at the water, dreading how cold and uncomfortable it would make her.  She hated fishing.  She hated water in general.  It always made her uncomfortable while she dried.  A Riverclan cat who did not necessarily like fishing or water was an unfortunate thing.  However, in Greenleaf she enjoyed it more.

She turned back towards Petalpaw, with no sign of dreading having to fish in a moment.  She actually forced herself to look quite happy.  "For catching fish, you can use your teeth or claws," She informed Petalpaw.  "Teeth is generally easier, because it's harder for the fish to be able to swim away.  If you're catching the fish with your mouth, you will want to wait and look above water till you see a fish come near, then, as fast as you can, put your face in the water, with your eyes open if possible, and bite into the fish.  For catching one with your claws, do the same thing, except instead of putting your face in the water put your claws in and try to grab one in your paws and pierce through it with your claws.  If you miss, that is not a problem, catching fish is pretty hard.  Here, watch what I do."

She looked in the water and waited for a fish to swim by.   One was close enough to her that she thought she could catch it.  She put her face in the water, mouth and eyes both open. She quickly bit into the fish, blood from the fish pouring into the river. She took her head out quickly. The air was horrible with her wet fur. The fish was fully dead at that point. She set it to the side. For a moment she stared at the water with red in it, which reminded her of that one cat...

But she could not think about that now. She cleared her throat and turned back towards Petalpaw. "Have any questions? If not, you can try."
