Dappledpaw's Mentor Change Ceremony

Murkystrike's paws were hesitant, her tail dragging as she made her way up Jaggedrock. Hopegiver had gone missing, and it didn't seem she was coming back any time soon. Perhaps she had gone to search for Ichtaca, and gotten lost. Hopefully she would be back soon, but for now... She had left behind an apprentice in need of a new mentor. Standing at the edge of the rock, Murkystrike called out to her clan. "ShadowClan, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock."

A cool breeze ruffled Dappledpaw’s fur as she stepped out of the apprentice’s den. She hadn’t been herself lately. Hopegiver had disappeared recently, and that had left her without a mentor. She wanted to get back to training as soon as possible, so she hoped she would have a new mentor assigned soon.

Dappledpaw didn’t like not being productive. It was what she tried to do most of the most. Anytime she wasn’t training or patrolling, she was helping around camp. She suddenly remembered why she had was walking out into the camp clearing and turned her attention back to the matter at hand. Murkystrike had called a meeting, meaning a ceremony was probably going to happen. She found a place to sit amoungst the crowd and patiently waited for the meeting to continue.

Dappledpaw appeared among the other members of ShadowClan, and Murkystrike's heart twisted. The apprentice hadn't been herself recently, it was clear what toll Hopegiver's disappearance had taken on the young cat. Hopefully today would change that. "ShadowClan, I'm sure you all have heard about Hopegiver's disappearance by now. It is... Very unfortunate, and I ask you all to continue to keep an eye out for her. In her absence, she has left behind an apprentice. Dappledpaw, please step forward." She mewed, calling out to the young apprentice. Once she had responded, Murkystrike continued. "Dappledpaw, your training must continue. With that in mind, I am going to select a new mentor for you. Mistlebright will be your new mentor. She is a young warrior, but she was well-taught, and I trust that you both will be able to lean on each other and grow together." She mewed before leaping from Jaggedrock to end the ceremony, stepping forward to gently touch her nose to Dappledpaw's head.

Like usual, Mistlebright joined the rest of her clan beneath Murkystrike, listening intently. It seemed Dappledpaw was getting a new apprentice, much like the warrior herself had. She was aware of Hopegiver's disappearance, especially since she was one of the kits Mistyfalcon had taken in. Although she hadn't known the she-cat, that somewhat made them siblings. Much to her surprise, Mistlebright heard her own name called out as the replacement. She was only a little older than the apprentice, but maybe this meant they could work together more. "I'll carry on from where Hopegiver left off, and we can both learn and grow, just like Murkystrike said." She touched noses with the spotted she-cat, and with that, she had an apprentice.
