Mistlepaw's Mentor Change Ceremony

Ravenwing hadn't been feeling well, and had not been showing any signs of feeling better, so Murkystrike had spoken with Flintstar about assigning Mistlepaw to a new mentor in the meantime. After a quick discussion (for Flintstar always was a tom of few words, especially those that were unnecessary) they had agreed to move forward, as Mistlepaw needed a mentor to guide her paws that was healthy and able to keep up. As she climbed Jaggedrock, she hoped that Ravenwing would be back on her paws soon. "ShadowClan, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock!"

It had taken Mistlepaw a while to work out why she hadn't done any training, but now she knew that Ravenwing had taken ill, she didn't blame her. Hopefully her new mentor would be just as nice. She joined the rest of the clan sitting down, feeling strange that this time she knew what was going to happen.

Once the clan had gathered below, Murkystrike took a deep breath and continued. "It is with a heavy heart that I bring you this news. Unfortunately, Ravenwing is unable to train Mistlepaw due to her illness. With this in mind, I have selected a new mentor that will guide her paws. Mistlepaw, please step forward." She waited a moment while the young apprentice did so before continuing. "Mistlepaw, Frostgaze will be your mentor. He will pick up you training and guide your paws as you learn the way of a warrior." With that, the meeting was over. Murkystrike jumped down carefully from Jaggedrock as the clan was dismissed.

Just like she had last time, Mistlepaw took a step forward, this time a slightly larger and more confident one. When Frostgaze was named, she searched for the tom, and subconsciously noticed how he looked completely opposite to Rvenwing, with a bright white pelt. Maybe that would scare the shadows away (even though she wasn't as scared any more). "When does training start?" Her voice remained calm like always, but excitement shined in her wide yellow eyes.

Frostgaze was truly cursed with his height, having to sit near the front just to see. It never ceased to be an annoyance, though one he refused to share with anyone. He had gathered for an apprentice ceremony, a great thing to see. It felt as if too many had died as of late, and their ranks could use bolstering. So he gently kept his tail around his paws, laying it on top of them to keep it as clean as possible. No need to clean himself again, he felt like he just had. Too much of that and he'd lick his own fur off.

The blue-eyed tom hadn't quite expected to be named as a mentor, but it did not phase him. With a stoic nod to Murkystrike, Frostgaze gracefully padded through the small amount of crowd in front of him, touching noses to his brand new apprentice. Mistlepaw had already been an apprentice, yet Ravenwing had fallen ill. Disappointing, but not unheard of. He distinctly recalled his own mentor reassignment, when Rosethorn had... met her untimely demise. He would be able to fulfill the job to the highest degree, he would not do any less.

Mistlepaw appeared excited... good, enthusiasm would help. "Training begins tomorrow as soon as you can see the Silverpelt. I would recommend getting rest, you will surely need it." Frostgaze wast truly a cat of few words, and he turned on his heels and padded away. His new apprentice would be taught well... he simply needed to formulate a proper lesson plan.
