Yewkit's Apprentice Ceremony

One down, one to go. Bloodstrike hauled himself up the tree once more and again took his seat on the Tallbranch. "Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting!" He could see his breath from the chill in the air this time. He didn't want to show it, but his toes would be grateful to be tucked under his body after this one. And to think the snow hadn't even fallen yet. He swiveled an ear around to listen for other clanmates... and that was when he realized how cold they were too. He was afraid to lick his nose, lest the moisture made the cold worse. He knew first hand that too low o temperature could sting eyes, ears and nose like angry ants.

With his brother’s ceremony just finished, Yewkit waited with his ears pricked and eyes fixed on the deputy, as if Bloodstrike would disappear somewhere if he lost track of him. The little tuxedo tom’s fur was groomed to perfection with the help of Aunt Sapphire. It was his turn now. He could finally start training. With fiery determination hidden behind his usual cold stare, Yewkit moved to where he could look straight at the scarred tom above. Who would his mentor be? He hoped it was someone smart like Juniperlight.

Bloodstrike saw that everyone, especially Yewkit and his intended mentor had gathered. Wasting no time, the deputy began the meeting. "Yewkit, step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to become an apprentice. From today until the day you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Yewpaw. Oliverain will be your mentor." With that concluded the ceremony and Bloodstrike dismissed the clan. He hopped down from Tallbranch, ready to organize patrols.
