Antisocial (open)

Softkit hated being outside.

She preferred being curled up besides her mother, or sitting next to her siblings, listening to their adventures of the day. She loved being with her family, and staying inside the nursery. But just a few minutes ago, Sagewillow dragged her out of the nursery, and forced her to play outside and, bleh, make friends. Softkit didn't need friends! Her family were her friends! Plus it was kinda chilly.

So Softkit would sit here, tail wrapped around her tiny paws, and watch her clanmates go by. Who knows. Maybe if she stays here long enough Sagewillow will take pity on her, and let her back into the nursery!

Softkit was not the only kit Sagewillow had dragged out of the nursery, it seemed, as a fluffed up Mistykit soon trotted up to her sister. She hated the cold as much as any cat, but Softkit looked absolutely miserable. And Mistykit thought she had it bad!

"Hey, what's eatin' ya? You look like you let yourself get groomed by a dog! Like, you look bad. Really, really bad."

Scrunching up her nose, Mistykit gave her sister a sniff. Well, at least she didn't stink! "I guess momma made you come out here too? Why just sit like a log and make it harder?"

Softkit perked her ears up at the sound of her sister's voice. Thank goodness it wasn't any of her non-related clanmates. "Oh hey Mistykit." Softkit greeted, before adding, "I also don't look that bad." Granted Softkit couldn't see herself, but she was pretty sure she looked fine.

She leaned back as Mistykit gave her a sniff. Was she concerned about her smell? Mistykit could be really weird sometimes. Softkit found it endearing at times, though one could say it was because of a bias. "Yea, she did. Said I needed to finally get out of the nursery, and 'make friends'. A bunch of mouse-dung I say." Softkit heard Downtuft whisper mouse-dung a few times so Softkit started saying it too. Sagewillow said it was a bad word, and Downtuft even reprimended her for it, despite saying it himself! Such a hip- heyp- Softkit didn't exactly know the word she was looking for, but it fit Downtuft about saying mouse-dung.

"Also sitting like a log's a lot easier then talking with our clanmates. I prefer you and the rest of our siblings. Not sure how I feel about mom though since she forced us out here. And dad too because he's a hip-hap- however you say that word!" Softkit let out a huff of annoyance. This sucked.

Hentooth crouched just inside her den, staring with wide eyes at the kits. No matter how hard Sagewillow tried, it was impossible she’d be able to keep all eight furballs in line. The fresh herbs were newly sorted. The stakes were high. The young medicine cat narrowed her eyes, keeping in the shadows of her den. Softkit, she didn’t know that well. But Mistykit… why didn’t they name the little fluffball HAREWITHITSTAILONFIREkit and be done with it?

She had two courses of action. Well, three, but she did like… she wasn’t playing with them when she went along with their fun, she was training them to be warriors! Yeah! And surely Downtuft and Sagewillow would appreciate an extra set of paws.

Anyways, she had two courses of action. One, she could stay here and guard the herbs. Two, she could go out and keep the kits busy so they didn’t go near said herbs. Option One was boring. Option Two it was.

Hentooth shook out her fur and trotted out of her den. “Ello, Mistykit, Softkit!” Softkit knew her, she was sure, but she hadn’t interacted with the little furball as much as she had with some of her siblings. “Whatcha doin’?” She queried, plopping down on the sand, and carefully keeping an eye on Mistykit. She hadn’t forgotten when the kit had pounced on her… although it was pretty cute. Alright, she didn’t mind.

Perfect.

With Hentooth distracted by Softkit and Mistykit, Whisperingkit had been left with a wide open opportunity to enact her scheme. Momma had forced them out the nursery to make friends. Blegh. At least dad understood that friends were dumb. He didn't have many either, whereas Momma was friends with everyone. Whisperingkit was sure that Momma was friends with squirrels, at this point.

On silent little kitten paws, the silvery gray bundle of fluff creeped closer and closer towards the medicine den. Once she was thoroughly hidden in the herbs, no cat would even be able to smell her, and she'd surely spook the daylights out of Hentooth! Hehehe... All according to plan. Now to just make sure Hentooth doesn't see me... With a grin to herself, her tail swished, and she thought delightfully how she definitely owed her sisters a thank you when this was over. Gee, she loved her siblings. They were so helpful!

Dreamkit slowly creeped towards Whisperingkit, head lowered and paws as silent as a mouse. Like the rest of his siblings, Dreamkit had also been forced out of the nursery to befriend others, and not just to his own. He wasn't so extroverted like Sagewillow, although he didn't completely hate socializing either. Especially if it came to his family. Though seeing Whisperingkit's mischevious intent, he quickly understood what she was up to, and a small grin formed on their face.

Closer, closer, and closer.

They were now only just a pawstep away. Dreamkit took his chance, and quickly mimicked a warrior's hunting crouch with an aim to surprise attack Whisperingkit. "Rrrar!" They yowled triumphantly, leaping up and pouncing directly onto Whisperingkit's tail. He knew he had to stop the gray fluffball from attacking the medicine cat any further...  For whatever reason that may be for. They just felt like it was right to do so. "I bet you didn't even know I was there." He purred lightly.

Dreamkit usually wasn't the type of kit to act mischeviously, but seeing his sister planning to do so, he thought he might've well just join in. Secretly, that is. Dreamkit kept his paws in one place, still holding down to his sibling's tail with a grin.

Flamekit was sooo bored. Absolutely nothing ever happened in camp, except those times he and his siblings got into massive amounts of mischief, but none of them were doing anything right now. He stomped up to Softkit and Mistykit standing at the entrance to the nursery, talking or whatever, like adults. A part of him was tempted to just jump on Softkit, but she'd probably wail and then Momma would get grumpy and he'd end up stuck in the corner of the nursery even boreder out of his mind. So he let out a loud, overly exaggerated huffing sigh and stomped past them and the medicine cat who'd also decided to join the extremely boring conversation.

"You guys talk so much. Are we ever gonna do anything?" He complained, deliberately getting his paws mixed up and twisting in a circle as he tottered off a couple of tail-lengths, the sky spinning above him. He didn't even fall. That was it. Absolutely nothing interesting was happening today. He would officially die. They'd say those words over his grave - "died from boredom".

"Hhhhhhhhh." He flomped his own chin into the ground just to give himself some kind of semblance of something to do, limbs sprawled and fluffy tip of his tail trembling briefly before falling still.

And that was when the flicker of movement caught his eye.

Ears pricking, he spotted Dreamkit stalking up to his other other sister, who kind of looked like she was up to something interesting. Immediately the day turned a thousand watts brighter, and he perked up, bouncing to his paws just as Dreamkit's yowl split the drowsy air. "Oh yes!" Cannoning straight into the both of them, he lashed out with flailing paws - a blurr of fiery ginger. "Playfight!"
